Prayer of the Veil

The priest commences as in the liturgy of St. Basil until the reading of the Gospel. He proceeds with the Prayer of the Veil according to our father Saint John the Thrice blessed to the Father and says inaudibly

O Creator of the whole creation, of that which is seen and of that which is not seen.

يا خالق البرية كلها التى تُرى والتى لا تُرى.

Who cares for all things; for Thine they are. O Lover of Souls.

Ouo\ `eter`pronoin `nenxai niben> je nouk ne pennhb pimaiyuxh.

المعتنى بكل الأشياء لأنها لك يا سيدنا محب الأنفس.

I seek Thy compassion O Lord Almighty.

:era[ioin `mmok ~P_> vh`ete ouon `]jom `mmof `e\wb niben.

أستعطفك أيها الرب القادر على كل شئ.

I, the weak, despised, and unprofitable among Thy servants.

Anok 'a pijwb ouo\ etjwjeb ouo\ `nat]au `ebol oute nekref]em]i throu.

أنا الضعيف العاجز غير المفلح بين جميع خدامك.

Now drawing near to Thine Holy of Holies, and about to touch this holy and mysterious sacrament.

عندما أتقدم إلى قدس أقداسك وألمس هذا السر المخفى المقدس.

Give me, O Lord, Thine Holy Spirit, that fire immaterial and incomprehensible.

Moi nhi ~P_ `mPek`pneuma `eqouab> pi`xrwm `nat\ulh> ouo\ `nat`]mokmek `erof.

أعطنى يا رب روحك القدوس. النار غير الهيولية. التى لا يُفكر فيها.

That devours all infirmity and consumes wicked inventions.

Vheqouwm `mmetat`]`ama\i niben> ouo\ etrwk\ `nnijinjimi et\wou.

التى تأكل كل الضعيفات وتحرق الموجودات الرديئة.

Let it kill the earthly senses of the flesh.

Maref'wteb men `nnimeloc et \ijen pika\i `nte ;car[.

وليقتل أعضاء الجسد التى على الأرض.

Let it restrain the wanderings of the mind that lead it to imaginations full of aches and passion.

Maref;xalinouc de `nnijinkim `nte pika;> `etousi `mmof `e'oun `enivantaci`a eqme\ `mpaqoc ouo\ `mmucthgwc.

ويُلجم حركات الفهم التى تقوده إلى الخيالات المملوءة أوجاعاً وآلاماً.

And as it is proper for priests, let it make me rise above all mortal thoughts.

Nem kata `vrh; `eter`prepi `nniouhb> `eaf`qrier ca`p]wi `mmokmek niben eqmwout.

وكما يليق بالكهنة يجعلنى فوق كل فكر ميت.

And grant me the sanctifying words.

Ouo\ maref`qrou]wpi `n'ht `nje nicaji `nreftoubo.

وليجعل فىّ الكلمات المطهرة.

In order to fulfill this offering now laid on the altar which is the mystery of mysteries.

E`pjinjwk `ebol `mpaidwron vai etxh `e`'rhi> `ete vai pe pimucthrion `nte mucthrion niben.

لكى أكمل هذا القربانالموضوع الذى هو سر جميع الأسرار.

In the fellowship and communion of Thy Christ.

"en ;met`]vhr nem ;koinwni`a `nte Pek`xrictoc.

بصحبة وشركة مسيحك.

To whom with Thee the glory is due, with the Holy Spirit, the Life-Giver and of one essence with Thee.

Vai `etere pi`wou er`prepi nak nemaf> nem Pi`pneuma `eqouab `nreftan'o ouo\ `n`omooucioc nemak.

هذا الذى يليق بك معه المجد مع الروح القدس المحيى المساوى لك.

Now, and at all times, and unto the ages of all ages. Amen.
