Introduction of the Prayer of Incense

The priest kisses the step of the sanctuary with his hand, steps up to it with his right foot. It must be remembered to have the eastern lantern lit along with a candle on each side of the north and the south sides of the altar. The priest bows his head on the altar and kisses it. Then he holds the censer in left hand, or the deacon would hold it for him, and takes incense box in his right hand. The priest looks towards the other priests, bows his head before them and says

Bless.

Eulogite.

Or, for a single assisting priest, he says

Bless.

Euloghcon.

The other priests says

Bless you.

~Nqok euloghcon.

Then the priest looks back towards the east, puts down the incense box on the altar, puts his finger on the box and says

In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, one God.

"en `vran `m~Viwt nem ~P]hri nem Pi`pneuma `eqouab ounou; `nouwt.

Then he signs the box with the sign of the cross, adds one scoop of incense and says

Blessed be God the Father and Pantocrator. Amen.

~F`cmarwout `nje V; ~Viwt pipantokratwr> `amhn.

Then he signs the box a second time, adds a second scoop of incense and says

Blessed be His only-begotten Son Jesus Christ our God. Amen.

~F`cmarwout `nje pefmonogenhc `n}hri Ih/c/ Px/c/ Pen_> `amhn.

If there are any other priests, they should make the second signing and addition of the scoop of incense instead of the priest. Then the priest signs the box a third time, adds a third scoop of incense and says

Blessed be the Holy Spirit the comforter. Amen.

~F`cmarwout `nje Pipneuma `eqouab `mparaklhton> `amhn.

The priest adds two more scoops of incense without signing the box for a total of five scoops and says

Glory and honour, honour and glory to the Holy Trinity the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Now, and all times, and unto the age of all ages. Amen.

In every time the priest adds a scoop of incense, the deacon says “Amen”
