Prayer of Thanksgiving

The priest stands in front of the sanctuary facing the east while holding the censer, asks the deacon to tell the congregation to start the prayer and says

The priest looks towards the congregation and says

Peace be with all.

Let us give thanks to the beneficent and merciful God, the Father of our Lord, God and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

فلنشكر صانع الخيرات الرحوم الله أبا ربنا وإلهنا ومخلصنا يسوع المسيح.

For He has covered us, helped us, guarded us, accepted us to Him, spared us, supported us, and has brought us to this hour.

لأنه سترنا وأعاننا وحفظنا وقبلنا إليه وأشفق علينا وعاضدنا وأتى بنا إلى هذه الساعة.

Let us also ask Him, the Lord our God, the Pantocrator, to guard us in all peace and this holy day and all the days of our life.

أيها السيد الرب الإله ضابط الكل أبو ربنا وإلهنا ومخلصنا يسوع المسيح.

نشكرك على كل حال ومن أجل كل حال وفى كل حال.

Pray that God have mercy and compassion on us, hear us, help us and accept the supplications and prayers of His saints, for that which is good, on our behalf, at all times, and make us worthy to partake of the communion of his holy and blessed mysteries, for the remission of our sins.

اطلبوا لكى يرحمنا الله ويتراءف علينا ويسمعنا ويعيننا ويقبل سؤلات وطلبات قديسيه منهم بالصلاح عنا فى كل حين ويجعلنا مستحقين أن ننال من شركة أسراره المقدسة المباركة لمغفرة خطايانا.

Therefore, we ask and entreat Thy Goodness, O Lover of mankind, grant us to complete this holy day, and all days of our life, in all peace with Thy fear.

من أجل هذا نسأل ونطلب من صلاحك يا محب البشر امنحنا أن نكمل هذا اليوم المقدس وكل أيام حياتنا بكل سلام مع خوفك.

All envy, all temptation, all the work of Satan, the counsel of wicked men and the rising up of enemies, hidden and manifest.

كل حسد وكل تجربة وكل فعل الشيطان ومؤامرة الناس الأشرار وقيام الأعداء الخفيين والظاهرين.

The priest bows his head towards the east, signs himself and says

Take them away from us.

انزعها عنا.

Then he looks towards the west from the right, signs the congregation and says

And from all Thy people.

Nem `ebol\a peklaoc thrf.

وعن سائر شعبك.

In the offering of the lamb, he signs the altar and says

And from this table.

Nem `ebol\a tai`trapeza qai.

وعن هذه المائدة.

In the Vespers Incense, he signs the sides of the altar and says

And from this holy place that is Thine.

Nem `ebol\a paima eqouab `ntak vai.

وعن موضعك المقدس هذا الذى لك.

Then he continues the prayer and says

But those things which are good and profitable do Thou provide for us, for Thou art He Who hast given us the authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and upon all the power of the enemy.

Nh de eqnaneu nem nh`eternofri ca\ni `mmwou nan> je `nqok pe `etak; `mpier]i]i nan> `e\wmi `ejen ni\of nem ni`slh> nem `ejen ;jom thrc `nte pijaji.

أما الصالحات والنافعات فارزقنا إياها لأنك أنت الذى أعطيتنا السلطان أن ندوس الحيات والعقارب وكل قوة العدو.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

ولا تدخلنا فى تجربة لكن نجنا من الشرير.

By the grace, compassion and love of mankind, of Thine Only-Begotten Son, our Lord, God and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

بالنعمة والرأفات ومحبة البشر اللواتى لابنك الوحيد الجنس ربنا وإلهنا ومخلصنا يسوع المسيح.

Through Whom the glory, the honour, the dominion, and the worship are due unto Thee, with Him, and the Holy Spirit, the Life-Giver, Who is of One Essence with Thee.

هذا الذى من قبله المجد والكرامة والعز والسجود تليق بك معه ومع الروح القدس المحيى المساوى لك.

الآن وكل أوان وإلى دهر الدهور. آمين.

Then the congregation says in a long tune

Saved, Amen. And with your spirit.

خلصت حقاً. ومع روحك.

In the presence of the patriarch, a bishop or a metropolitan, the congregation says

All the wise men of Israel, who craft threads of gold, make a garment of Aaron according to the honor of the priesthood of our honored father, the chief priest, Pope Abba (…) the beloved of Christ.

يا كل حكماء اسرائيل صناع خيوط الذهب اصنعوا ثوباً هارونياً لائقاً بكرامة كهنوت أبينا المكرم رئيس الكهنة البابا أنبا (...) حبيب المسيح.

In the presence of a bishop or a metropolitan, the congregation says

And our honored father, the bishop (the metropolitan), Abba (…), the beloved of Christ.

وأبينا المكرم الأسقف (المطران) أنبا (...) أحباء المسيح.

In the presence of several bishops or metropolitans, the congregation says

And our honored fathers, the bishops (the metropolitans), who are with us, the beloved of Christ.

Nem neniot ettaihout `n`epickopoc (`mmhtropolithc) nhetxh neman> nimenra; `nte Pixrictoc.

وأبائنا المكرمين الأساقفة (المطارنة) الذين معنا أحباء المسيح.

During the lent of Nineveh and the great lent, except for its Saturdays and Sundays, the congregation says the annual response in the short tune and continues

His foundation is in the holy mountains. The Lord loveth the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob. Glorious things are spoken of you, O city of God. Alleluia.

أساساته فى الجبال المقدسة. أحب الرب ابواب صهيون اكثر من جميع مساكن يعقوب. تمجيدات قيلت عنك يا مدينة الله. الليلويا.

And of Zion it shall be said, This and that man was born in her: and the highest himself shall establish her. Alleluia.

الأم صهيون تقول إن إنسان وإنسان صار فيها وهو العلى الذى أسسها إلى الأبد. الليلويا.
