Prayer for the Gospel

The priest hands the cross to the deacon or leave it on the altar, holds the censer and says

The priest looks towards the congregation and says

O Master, Lord, Jesus Christ our God, Who said to His saintly, honoured Disciples and holy Apostoles:

أيها السيد الرب يسوع المسيح إلهنا الذى قال لتلاميذه القديسين المكرمين ورسله الأطهار:

“Many profets and righteous men have desired to see the things which you see, and have not seen them, and to hear the things which you hear, and have not heard them.

إن أنبياء وأبرارا كثيرين اشتهوا أن يروا ما أنتم ترون ولم يروا وأن يسمعون ما أنتم تسمعون ولم يسمعوا.

But blessed are your eyes for they see, and your ears for they hear.”

أما أنتم فطوبى لأعينكم لأنها تبصر ولآذانكم لأنها تسمع.

May we be worth to hear and to act [according to] Thine Holy Gospels, through the prayers of Thy saits.

أذكر أيضا يا سيدنا كل الذين أمرونا أن نذكرهم فى تضرعاتنا وطلباتنا التى نرفعها إليك أيها الرب إلهنا.

Those who have already fallen asleep, repose them. Those who are sick heal them.

الذين سبقوا فرقدوا نيحهم، المرضى اشفهم.

For Thou art the life of us all, the salvation of us all, the hope of us all, the healing of us all and resurrection of us all.

لأنك أنت هو حياتنا كلنا وخلاصنا كلنا ورجاؤنا كلنا وشفاؤنا كلنا وقيامتنا كلنا.

And Thou art He to whom we ascribe the glory, the honour, and the worship, together with Thy Good Father and the Holy Spirit, the Life-Giver, Who is of One Essence with Thee.

The priest may choose to say the following prayer of the Gospel instead of the previous one. The priest says

O Master, Lord, Jesus Christ our God, Who sent His saintly, honoured Disciples and holy Apostoles to the whole world.

To preach the Gospel of Thy Kingdom, and teach all nations Thy true knowledge.

ليكرزوا بإنجيل ملكوتك ويعلموا كل الأمم معرفتك الحقيقية.

We ask Thee, O Master, open our hearts to listen to Thine Holy Gospels.

نسألك يا سيدنا افتح آذان قلوبنا لكى نسمع أناجيلك المقدسة.

Open the senses of our souls and make us worthy to be listeners but also doers with Thy holy precepts according to the will of God, Thy Good Father.

With Whom Thou art blessed, with the Holy Spirit, the Life-Giver, Who is of One Essence with Thee.

Vai `etek`cmarwout nemaf> nem Pi`pneuma `eqouab `nreftan'o ouo\ `n`omooucioc nemak.

هذا الذى أنت مبارك معه مع الروح القدس المحيى المساوى لك.

Now, and at all times, and unto the age of all ages. Amen.

الآن وكل ون وإلى دهر الدهر. آمين.

Then the gospel is read as explained earlier on page 30. While the Gospel is interpreted, the priest holds the censer and says inaudibly

O Thou, who art long-suffering, abundant in mercy and true, receive our prayers and supplications, receive our petitions, repentance and confession upon Thine holy undefiled altar in heaven.

أيها الطويل الأناة الكثير الرحمة الحقيقى أقبل سؤالاتنا وطلباتنا منا. أقبل ابتهالاتنا وتوبتنا واعترافنا على مذبحك المقدس غير الدنس السمائى.

May we be made worthy to hear Thine holy gospel and may we keep Thy precepts and commandments.

فلنستحق سماع أناجيلك المقدسة ونحفظ وصاياك وأوامرك.

And bring forth fruit therein a hundred-fold, sixty-fold and thirty-fold, in Christ Jesus our Lord.

ونثمر فيها مائة وستين وثلاثين بالمسيح يسوع ربنا.

Remember, O Lord the sick of Thy people that Thou hast visited them with mercies and compassion, heal them.

أذكر يارب مرضى شعبك. افتقدهم بالمراحم والرأفات، اشفهم.

Remember, O Lord, our fathers and brethren who are traveling, bring them back to their own in peace and safety.

أذكر يارب آباءنا وإخوتنا المسافرين ردهم إلى أوطانهم بسلام وعافية.

صلوا من أجل المسافرين.

Remember O Lord, the air of heaven and the fruits of the earth, bless them.

أذكر يارب أهوية السماء وثمرات الأرض، باركها.

Pray for the good air and the fruits of the earth.

صلوا من أجل الهواء الصالح وثمار الأرض.

Remember, O Lord, the water of the rivers, bless them, raise them to their measures according to Thy grace.

أذكر يارب مياه النهر باركها اصعدها كمقدارها كنعمتك.

صلوا من أجل صعود مياه الأنهار كمقدارها.

Remember, O Lord, the seeds, the herbs and the plants of the field, bless them.

أذكر يارب الزروع والعشب ونبات الحقل باركها.

أذكر يارب المتضايقين من الشدائد والضيقات، خلصهم من جميع شدائدهم .

Remember, O Lord, the catechumens of Thy people, have mercy upon them;

Confirm their faith in Thee.

ثبتهم فى الإيمان بك.

Uproot all traces of idolatry from their hearts.

كل بقية عبادة الأوثان انزعها من قلوبهم.

Thy law, Thy fear, Thy commandments, Thy truths, and Thine holy precepts, establish in their hearts.

Peknomoc tek\o; nekentolh nekmeqmhi nekoua\ca\ni `eqouab> matajrwou `n`'rhi 'en pou\ht.

ناموسك، خوفك، وصاياك، حقوقك، أوامرك المقدسة ثبتها فى قلوبهم.

Grant that they know the steadfastness of the preaching they have received.

Mhic nwou eqroucouen `ptajro `nnicaji `etauerkathxin `mmwou `n'htou.

إمنحهم أن يعرفوا قوة الكلام الذى وعظوا به.

And in the set time, may they be worthy of the washing of the new birth for the remission of their sins.

وفى الزمان المحدد فليستحقوا حميم الميلاد الجديد لغفران خطاياهم.

إذ تعدهم هيكلاً لروحك القدوس.

By the grace, compassion, and love of mankind of Thine Only-Begotten Son, our Lord God and Saviour Jesus Christ.

بالنعمة والرأفات ومحبة البشر اللواتى لابنك الوحيد الجنس ربنا وإلهنا ومخلصنا يسوع المسيح.

Through whom the glory, the honour, the dominion, and the adoration are due unto Thee, with him and the Holy Spirit, the Life-Giver, Who is of one essence with Thee.
