The Supplication

The priest may choose to say the following supplications that are from the Liturgy of Saint Gregory. The congregation would reply after every phrase saying “Lord have mercy.” The priest holds the corporals in both of his hands as it was before and says

Yes, we ask Thee, O Christ our God: Confirm the foundation of the Church.

نعم نسألك أيها المسيح إلهنا. ثبت أساس الكنيسة.

The oneness of the heart in love, may it be rooted in us.

وحدانية القلب التى للمحبة. فلتتأصل فينا.

Let the righteousness of faith grow; straighten for us the path of godliness.

Marecaiai `nje ;meqmhi `nte pina\;> cwouten nan `m`vmwit `nte ;meteucebhc.

لينمُ بر الايمان. سهل لنا طريق التقوى.

The shepherds do Thou control; and those whom they shepherd confirm.

Niman`ecwou morou> nh`etou`amoni `mmwou matajrwou.

الرعاة اضبطهم. الذين يرعونهم ثبتهم.

Give dignity to the clergy; asceticism to the monks.

Moi `noumetcai`e `mpi`klhtoc> oueg`krati`a `nnimonaxoc.

اعط بهاء للاكليروس. نسكاً للرهبان.

Purity to those in virginity; a virtuous life to those in wedlock.

Outoubo `nhet 'en ;parqeni`a> ouwn' `enanef `nnhet 'en pigamoc.

طهارة للذين فى البتولية. حياة صالحة للذين فى الزيجة.

Mercy to those in repentance; goodness to the rich.

Ounai `nnhet 'en ;met`anoi`a> oumet`agaqoc `nnhetoi `nrama`o.

رحمة للذين فى التوبة. صلاحاً للأغنياء.

Meekness to the pious; help to the poor.

Oumet`epikhc `nnhettaihout> oubo`hqi`a `nni\hki.

دعة للفضلاء. معونة للمساكين.

The elders confirm; the youth instruct.

Ni'elloi matajrwou> Nhet 'en ;metberi ma`cbw nwou.

الشيوخ قوهم. الذين فى الحداثة ادبهم.

The unbelievers restore; let the schisms of the Church come to an end.

Niaqna\; matacqwou> maroukhn `nje nivwrj `nte ;ek`klhci`a.

غير المؤمنين ردهم. لتنقض افتراقات البيعة.

Strip the vanity of the heretics; and count us all in the unity of righteousness.

حل تعاظم أهل البدع. ونحن كلنا احسبنا فى وحدانية التقوى.
