Prayer of Reconciliation

The priest stands in front of the altar facing the east, asks the deacon to tell the congregation to start the prayer and says

Pray.

Deacon

Stand up for prayer.

Epi `proceuxh `ctaqhte.

للصلاة قفوا.

The priest looks towards the congregation and says

Peace be with all.

Irhnh paci.

السلام للكل.

Congregation

And with your spirit.

Ke tw `pneuma ti cou.

ولروحك أيضا.

The priest removes the corporal on top of the prosferin, and then he may choose to say the following prayer of reconciliation by Saint Basil, or any other prayer that he selects. The priest says

O Great and Eternal God, Who formed man in incorruption.

V; pini]; pi]a`ene\> vh`etafkwt `mpirwmi `e`\rhi `ejen ;metattako.

يا الله العظيم الأبدى الذى جبل الإنسان على غير فساد.

And death which entered into the world by the envy of the devil.

Ouo\ `vmou `etaf`i `e'oun `epikocmoc> \iten pi`vqonoc `nte pidi`aboloc.

والموت الذى دخل إلى العالم بحسد إبليس.

Thou hast destroyed, by the life-giving manifestation of Thine Only-Begotten Son, our Lord, God and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

هدمته بالظهور المحيى الذى لابنك الوحيد الجنس ربنا وإلهنا ومخلصنا يسوع المسيح.

Thou hast filled the earth with the peace from the heavens.

وملأت الأرض من السلام الذى من السموات.

By which the hosts of angels glorify Thee saying:

Qai `etere ;`ctrati`a `nte niaggeloc> ;`wou nak `n'htc eujw `mmoc.

هذا الذى أجناد الملائكة يمجدونك به قائلين:

“Glory to God in the highest, peace on earth and goodwill toward men.”

Je ou`wou `mV; 'en nhetsoci> nem ou\irhnh \ijen pika\i> nem ou;ma; 'en nirwmi.

المجد لله فى الأعالى وعلى الأرض السلام وفى الناس المسرة.

Pray for perfect peace, love and the holy apostolic kisses.

Priest

According to Thy goodwill, O God fill our hearts with Thy peace.

بمسرتك يا الله املأ قلوبنا من سلامك.

Cleanse us from all blemish, all guile, all hypocrisy, all malice and the remembrance of evil entailing death.

واجعلنا مستحقين كلنا يا سيدنا أن نقبل بعضنا بعضاً بقبلة مقدسة.

That without falling into condemnation, we may partake of Thine immortal and heavenly gift in Christ Jesus our Lord.

لكى ننال بغير وقوع فى دينونة من موهبتك غير المائتة السمائية بالمسيح يسوع ربنا.

Through whom the glory, the honour, the dominion, and the adoration are due unto Thee, with Him and the Holy Spirit, the Life-Giver, Who is of one essence with Thee.

The priest may choose to say the following prayer of reconciliation by the Thrice Blessed John instead of the previous one. The priest says

High above all power of reason and thought of mind, is the richness of Thy gifts, O our Master.

عال فوق كل قوة النطق، وكل فكر العقل، غنى مواهبك يا سيدنا.

For these things that Thou hast hidden from the wise and the prudent, Thou hast revealed unto us, we the same children.

لأن ما أخفيته عن الحكماء والفهماء، هذا أعلنته لنا نحن الأطفال الصغار.

And these things that prophets and kings have desired to see and have not seen.

وما أشتهت الأنبياء والملوك أن يروه ولم يروا.

Thou hast granted us, we the sinners, in order to serve, and through which we may be purified.

هذا أنعمت به علينا نحن الخطاة، لكى نخدمه ونتطهر بواسطته.

For Thou hast set for us the economy of Thine Only-Begotten Son, and the mystery of this sacrifice.

عندما أقمت لنا تدبير ابنك الوحيد الجنس، والسر الخفى الذى لهذه الذبيحة.

That around which is neither the blood of the law, nor the righteousness of the flesh.

Qai `ete `mmon `cnof `mpinomoc `mpeckw;> oude oumeqmhi `nte ;car[.

هذه التى ليس دم الناموس حولها ولا بر الجسد.

But the Lamb is spiritual, and the knife is rational and not material, this is the sacrifice which we offer unto Thee.

Alla pi`ecwou men ou`pneumatikon pe> ;chfi de oulogikh te ouo\ `natcwma> taiquci`a oun qai `eten`ini `mmoc nak `e'oun.

أما الخروف فروحى، وأما السكين فعقلية وغير جسمية، هذه الذبيحة التى نقدمها لك.

Purify our lips and liberate our minds from the confounding of the material thing.

طهر شفاهنا واعتق عقولنا من كل أخلاط الهيولى.

And send upon us the grace of Thine Holy Spirit.

وأرسل علينا نعمة روحك القدوس.

And make us all worthy, O our Master, to greet one another with a holy kiss.

واجعلنا أهلاً أن نقبل بعضنا بعضاً بقبلة مقدسة.

After any of the previous prayers, the deacon says

Greet one another with a holy kiss.

Acpazecqe allhlouc en vilhmatic `agi`w.

قبلوا بعضكم بعضاً بقبلة مقدسة.

Meanwhile, the priests greet eachother, and the deacons and the congregation greets one another. Then the congregation says the appropriate Aspasmos hymn according to the occasion. For all the days of the year, and the feast of St. Mary, the congregation says the following Aspasmos Adam

Rejoice, O Mary, handmaid and Mother, for the angels praise Him Who is in your arms.

Ounof `mmo Mari`a> ;bwki ouo\ ;mau> je vhet 'en pe`amhr> niaggeloc ce\wc `erof.

افرحى يا مريم العبدة والأم لأن الذى فى حجرك الملائكة تسبحه.

And the Cherubim worthily worship Him, the Seraphim, too, without ceasing.

والشاروبيم يسجدون له باستحقاق والسيرافيم بغير فتور.

No daring have we before our Lord, Jesus Christ, save your prayers and intercessions, O our Lady, the lady of us all, the Mother of God.

Mmon `ntan `nouparrhci`a> 'aten Pen_ Ihcouc Pi`xrictoc> xwric netwb\ nem ne`precbi`a> `w ten_ `nnhb thren ;qe`otokoc.

ليس لنا دالة عند ربنا يسوع المسيح سوى طلباتك وشفاعتك يا سيدتنا كلنا والدة الإله.

We ask Thee, O Son of God, to keep the life of our patriarch, Abba (…), the high priest. Confirm him upon his throne.

Ten;\o `erok `w Uioc Qeoc> eqrek`are\ `e`pwn' `mpenpatriarxhc> abba (...) piarxh`ereuc> matajrof \ijen pef`qronoc.

نسألك يا ابن الله أن تحفظ حياة بطريركنا أنبا (...) رئيس الكهنة ثبته على كرسيه.

In the presence of a bishop or metropolitan, the congregation says

And his partner in the liturgy, our Holy, righteous father Abba (…) the Metropolitan (Bishop). Confirm him on his throne.

وشريكه فى الخدمة أبانا القديس البار أنبا (...) المطران (الأسقف) ثبته على كرسيه.

Then, the congregation continues

That, together with the Cherubim and the Seraphim, we praise Thee, proclaiming and saying.

لكى نسبحك مع الشاروبيم والسيرافيم صارخين قائلين.

Holy, Holy, Holy, O Lord, the Pantocrator. Heaven and earth are full of Thy glory and Thine honour.

Je `xouab `xouab `xouab> ~P_ pipantokratwr> `tve nem `nka\i me\ `ebol> 'en pek`wou nem paktai`o.

قدوس قدوس قدوس أيها الرب ضابط الكل السماء والأرض مملوءتان من مجدك وكرامتك.

Whether or not the preceding part is said, the congregation says

Through the intercessions of the Theotokos, Saint Mary, O Lord, grant us the forgiveness of our sins.

|iten ni`precbi`a `nte ;qe`otokoc `eqouab Mari`a> ~P_ `ari`\mot nan> `mpixw `ebol `nte nennobi.

بشفاعات والدة الإله القديسة مريم يارب أنعم علينا بمغفرة خطايانا.

We worship Thee, O Christ, with Thy good Father and the Holy Spirit, for Thou hast come and saved us.

Tenouw]t `mmok `w Pi`xrictoc nem Pekiwt `n`agaqoc nem Pi`pneuma `eqouab> je ak`i akcw; `mmon.

نسجد لك أيها المسيح مع أبيك الصالح والروح القدس لأنك أتيت وخلصتنا.

The priest and the deacon remove the prospherin from over the paten and chalice. The deacon holds the cross and says

Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy. Yes, Lord, who is Jesus Christ, the Son of God, hear us and have mercy upon us.

Kuri`e `ele`hcon> Kuri`e `ele`hcon> Kuri`e `ele`hcon> ne Kuri`e `ete vai pe Ihcouc Pi`xrictoc> ~P]hri `mV; cwtem `eron ouo\ nai nan.

يارب ارحم. يارب ارحم. يارب ارحم. نعم يارب الذى هو يسوع المسيح ابن الله الحى اسمعنا وإرحمنا.

The priest takes the corporal that is on the chalice in his left hand and the one on the paten in his right hand. The priest holds the corporal throughout the rest of the service except when holding the bread and the grape wine.
