Prayer of Thanksgiving

The priest stands in front of the sanctuary facing the east while holding the censer, asks the deacon to tell the congregation to start the prayer and says

The priest looks towards the congregation, signs them with the sign of the cross and says

Let us give thanks to the beneficent and merciful God, the Father of our Lord, God and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

For He has covered us, helped us, guarded us, accepted us to Him, spared us, supported us, and has brought us to this hour.

Let us also ask Him, the Lord our God, the Pantocrator, to guard us in all peace and this holy day and all the days of our life.

نشكرك على كل حال ومن أجل كل حال وفى كل حال.

Pray that God have mercy and compassion on us, hear us, help us and accept the supplications and prayers of His saints, for that which is good, on our behalf, at all times, and forgive us our sins.

اطلبوا لكى يرحمنا الله ويتراءف علينا ويسمعنا ويعيننا ويقبل سؤلات وطلبات قديسيه منهم بالصلاح عنا فى كل حين ويغفر لنا خطايانا.

Therefore, we ask and entreat Thy Goodness, O Lover of mankind, grant us to complete this holy day, and all days of our life, in all peace with Thy fear.

من أجل هذا نسأل ونطلب من صلاحك يا محب البشر امنحنا أن نكمل هذا اليوم المقدس وكل أيام حياتنا بكل سلام مع خوفك.

All envy, all temptation, all the work of Satan, the counsel of wicked men and the rising up of enemies, hidden and manifest.

كل حسد وكل تجربة وكل فعل الشيطان ومؤامرة الناس الأشرار وقيام الأعداء الخفيين والظاهرين.

The priest bows his head towards the east, signs himself and says

Take them away from us.

انزعها عنا.

Then he looks towards the west from the right, signs the congregation and says

And from all Thy people.

وعن سائر شعبك.

In the Vespers Incense, and in a place other than the church, he signs the sides of the altar and says

And from this holy place that is Thine.

وعن موضعك المقدس هذا الذى لك.

In the Matins Incense, he signs the church and says

And from this church.

Nem `ebol\a taiek`klhci`a.

وعن هذه الكنيسة.

In the offering of the lamb, he signs the altar and says

And from this table.

Nem `ebol\a tai`trapeza qai.

وعن هذه المائدة.

In the absolution of the woman, he says

And from this woman.

Nem `ebol\a tai`c\imi qai.

وعن هذه المرأة.

In the event of baptism, he says

And from this basin.

Nem `ebol\a taikolumbhqra qai.

وعن هذه الفسقية.

In the event of removing the “zennar,” he says

And from this water.

Nem `ebol\a paimwou vai.

وعن هذا الماء.

In the event of a wedding contract, he says

And from this bond.

Nem `ebol\a tai`ctolh qai.

وعن هذه الحلة.

In the event of a wedding, he says

And from this couple.

Nem `ebol\a naipat]elet qai.

وعن هذين العروسين.

In the event of unction of the sick, he says

And from this sick.

Nem `ebol\a paiet]wni vai.

وعن هذا المريض.

In the event of prayer of a departed or ordainment of a monk, he says

And from this soul.

Nem `ebol\a taiyuxh qai.

وعن هذه النفس.

Then he continues the prayer and says

But those things which are good and profitable do Thou provide for us, for Thou art He Who hast given us the authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and upon all the power of the enemy.

أما الصالحات والنافعات فارزقنا إياها لأنك أنت الذى أعطيتنا السلطان أن ندوس الحيات والعقارب وكل قوة العدو.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

ولا تدخلنا فى تجربة لكن نجنا من الشرير.

By the grace, compassion and love of mankind, of Thine Only-Begotten Son, our Lord, God and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

بالنعمة والرأفات ومحبة البشر اللواتى لابنك الوحيد الجنس ربنا وإلهنا ومخلصنا يسوع المسيح.

Through Whom the glory, the honour, the dominion, and the worship are due unto Thee, with Him, and the Holy Spirit, the Life-Giver, Who is of One Essence with Thee.

The congregation says the Verses of Cymbals. Meanwhile, the priest says the Prayer of Incense inaudibly
