And it shall come to pass if thou do at all forget the Lord thy God, and shouldest go after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that ye shall surely perish. As also the other nations which the Lord God destroys before your face, so shall ye perish, because ye hearkened not to the voice of the Lord your God.

قال موسى لبني إسرائيل: "إني أشهد عليكم اليوم السماء والأرض أنكم تهلكون لا محالة. كبقية الأمم التي أبادها الرب من أمام وجوهكم، كذلك تهلكون. لأجل أنكم لم تضغوا لصوت إلهكم."

Hear, O Israel: Thou goest this day across Jordan to inherit nations greater and stronger than yourselves, cities great and walled up to heaven; a people great and many and tall, the sons of Enac, whom thou knowest, and concerning whom thou hast heard say, Who can stand before the children of Enac? And thou shalt know to-day, that the Lord thy God he shall go before thy face: he is a consuming fire; he shall destroy them, and he shall turn them back before thee, and shall destroy them quickly, as the Lord said to thee.

اسمع يا إسرائيل، أنت اليوم ستعبر الأردن لكي تدخل وترث أمما عظيمة ومدناً محصنة ومشيدة إلى السماء، قوماً عظاماً طوالا، بني الجبابرة الذين عرفتهم وسمعت عنهم. ومن الذي يقدر أن يقف أمام بني عناق؟ فاعلم اليوم أن الرب إلهك هو الذي يتقدم بالمسير أمام وجهك بنار آكلة. هو يبيدهم ويستأصلهم سريعاً كما قال الرب.

Speak not in thine heart, when the Lord thy God has destroyed these nations before thy face, saying, For my righteousness the Lord brought me in to inherit this good land. Not for thy righteousness, nor for the holiness of thy heart, dost thou go in to inherit their land, but because of the wickedness of these nations the Lord will destroy them from before thee, and that he may establish the covenant, which the Lord sware to our fathers, to Abraam, and to Isaac, and to Jacob.

لا تقل في قلبك: إنه من أجل برّي أخرجني الرب لأمتلك هذه الأرض الجيدة، ولأجل إثم هؤلاء الشعوب يبيدهم الرب من أمام وجهك. ليس من أجل برّك وطهارة قلبك تمضي لترث أرضهم، بل ليفي بالعهد الذي أقسم به لآبائك إبراهيم واسحق ويعقوب.

And thou shalt know to-day, that it is not for thy righteousnesses the Lord thy God gives thee this good land to inherit, for thou art a stiff-necked people.

واعلم اليوم أنه ليس من أجل برّك يعطيك الرب هذه الأرض لترثها، لأنك شعب صلب الرقبة.

Remember, forget not, how much thou provokedst the Lord thy God in the wilderness: from the day that ye came forth out of Egypt, even till ye came into this place, ye continued to be disobedient toward the Lord.

واذكر ولا تنسى أنك كم أغضبت الرب في البرية، من اليوم الذي خرجتم فيه من أرض مصر إلى أن جئتم إلى هذا المكان؟ ولا تزالون تقاومون الرب.

Also in Choreb ye provoked the Lord, and the Lord was angry with you to destroy you; when I went up into the mountain to receive the tables of stone, the tables of the covenant, which the Lord made with you, and I was in the mountain forty days and forty nights, I ate no bread and drank no water. And the Lord gave me the two tables of stone written with the finger of God, and on them there had been written all the words which the Lord spoke to you in the mountain in the day of the assembly. And it came to pass after forty days and forty nights, the Lord gave me the two tables of stone, the tables of the covenant.

حتى في حوريب أسخطتم الرب. فغضب الرب عليكم ليبيدكم. فمضيت أنا وصعدت إلى الجبل لآخذ لوحي العهد الذي قطعه الرب معكم. ومكثت على الجبل أربعين يوماً وأربعين ليله، لم آكل خبزاً ولم أشرب ماءً، وأعطاني الرب لوحي الحجر المكتوبين بأصبع الله. ومكتوب عليهما جميع الكلام الذي كلمكم الله به على الجبل في يوم الاجتماع. وفي نهاية الأربعين نهاراً والأربعين ليلة، أعطاني الرب لوحي العهد.

And the Lord said to me, Arise, go down quickly from hence, for thy people whom thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt have transgressed; they have gone aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them, and have made themselves a molten image.

وقال لي الرب: قم انزل عاجلاً من هنا، لأنه قد أثم شعبك الذي أخرجته من أرض مصر، وزاغوا سريعاً عن الطرق التي رسمتها لهم، وصنعوا لأنفسهم تمثالاً مسبوكاً.

And the Lord spoke to me, saying, I have spoken to thee once and again, saying, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiff-necked people. And now suffer me utterly to destroy them, and I will blot out their name from under heaven, and will make of thee a nation great and strong, and more numerous than this. And I turned and went down from the mountain; and the mountain burned with fire to heaven; and the two tables of the testimonies were in my two hands.

وقال لي الرب: قد قلت لك مرة ومرتين أن هذا الشعب صلب الرقبة. دعني فأبيدهم من تحت السماء، وأجعلك شعباً أعظم وأكثر كثيراً منهم. فرجعت ونزلت من الجبل، والجبل يشتعل بالنار، ولوحا الحجارة في يدي.

And when I saw that ye had sinned against the Lord your God, and had made to yourselves a molten image, and had gone astray out of the way, which the Lord commanded you to keep; then I took hold of the two tables, and cast them out of my two hands, and broke them before you. And I made my petition before the Lord as also at the first forty days and forty nights: I ate no bread and drank no water, on account of all your sins which ye sinned in doing evil before the Lord God to provoke him. And I was greatly terrified because of the wrath and anger, because the Lord was provoked with you utterly to destroy you; yet the Lord hearkened to me at this time also. And he was angry with Aaron to destroy him utterly, and I prayed for Aaron also at that time.

فلما رأيت أنكم قد أخطأتم إلى الرب، وصنعتم لكم عِجلاً مسبوكاً، وزغتم عن الطريق التى أوصاكم بها الرب، طرحت اللوحين من يدي وكسرتهما قدامكم. ثم طلبت من الرب مرة ثانية كالأولى: أربعين نهاراً وأربعين ليلة لم آكل خبزاً ولم أشرب ماءً، من أجل كل خطاياكم التي أخطأتم بها، بعملكم الشر أمام الرب لإغاظته. لأني فزعت إذ غضب الله عليكم ليبيدكم. فاستجاب لي الرب في تلك المرة، وغضب الرب على هرون جداً ليبيده. فصليت من أجل هرون أيضاً في ذلك الوقت.

And your sin which ye had made, even the calf, I took, and burnt it with fire, and pounded it and ground it down till it became fine; and it became like dust, and I cast the dust into the brook that descended from the mountain.

أما الخطية التي عملتموها والعجل الذي صنعتموه، فأني أخذته وأحرقته بالنار وحطمته وسحقته حتى صار ناعماً كالغبار. ثم طرحت غباره في أسفل وادي السيل المنحدر من الجبل.

Also in the burning, and in the temptation, and at the graves of lust, ye provoked the Lord. And when the Lord sent you forth from Cades Barne, saying, Go up and inherit the land which I give to you, then ye disobeyed the word of the Lord your God, and believed him not, and hearkened not to his voice. Ye were disobedient in the things relating to the Lord from the day in which he became known to you.

وبالحريق والتجربة في قبر الشهوات كنتم تُغضبون الرب إلهكم. وعندما أرسلكم الرب من قادش برنيع قائلا: اصعدوا لترثوا الأرض التي أنا أعطيتها لكم فعصيتم قول الرب ولم تؤمنوا به ولم تسمعوا لصوته. ولم تزالون عاصين الرب من يوم أن ظهر لكم.

Ah sinful nation, a people full of sins, an evil seed, lawless children: ye have forsaken the Lord, and provoked the Holy One of Israel. Why should ye be smitten any more, transgressing more and more? the whole head is pained, and the whole heart sad. From the feet to the head, there is no soundness in them; neither wound, nor bruise, nor festering ulcer are healed: it is not possible to apply a plaister, nor oil, nor bandages. Your land is desolate, your cities burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is made desolate, overthrown by strange nations. The daughter of Sion shall be deserted as a tent in a vineyard, and as a storehouse of fruits in a garden of cucumbers, as a besieged city. And if the Lord of Sabaoth had not left us a seed, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been made like Gomorrha.

ويل للأمة الخاطئة، الشعب الممتلئ إثماً، النسل المخالف، تركتم الرب وأغضبتم قدوس إسرائيل ستحل بكم ضربات لأنكم أزددتم إثماً. كل الرأس مريض، وكل القلب سقيم. من أخمص القدم إلى قمة الرأس جراح وكلوم وقرحة ملتهبة. لم يوضع عليها مرهم ولا دهن ولاعصائب. أرضكم تخرب. ومدنكم تحرق بالنار. وكوركم تؤكل قدامكم. وقد أخربت وانهدمت من الشعوب الغرباء. وتبقى ابنة صهيون كمظلة في كرم وكخيمة في مقثأة. كمدينة منهوبة. ولولا أن رب الجنود أبقى لنا بقية، لصرنا مثل سدوم وشابهنا عمورة.

Now therefore enter ye into the rocks, and hide yourselves in the earth, for fear of the Lord, and by reason of the glory of his might, when he shall arise to strike terribly the earth. For the eyes of the Lord are high, but man is low; and the haughtiness of men shall be brought low, and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.

هذا ما يقوله الرب: أدخلوا في الصخور واختفوا في الأرض من أمام خوف الرب ومن أمام مجد قوته إذا قام ليهشم الأرض لأن ألحاظ الرب عالية والإنسان ذليل وسيذل ارتفاع البشر ويتعالى الرب وحده في ذلك اليوم.

For the day of the Lord of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and haughty, and upon every one that is high and towering, and they shall be brought down; and upon every cedar of Libanus, of them that are high and towering, and upon every oak of Basan, and upon every high mountain, and upon every high hill, and upon every high tower, and upon every high wall, and upon every ship of the sea, and upon every display of fine ships. And every man shall be brought low, and the pride of men shall fall: and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.

لأن يوم رب الجنود سيأتي على كل معتد ومتعظم وعلى كل من استعلى وتشامخ فيذلون وعلى كل أرز لبنان المتعالى الشامخ وعلى كل شجر بلوط باشان وعلى كل جبال عال وعلى كل اكمة مرتفعة وعلى كل برج شاهف وعلى كل سور منيع وعلى كل سفن البحر وعلى كل منظر سفن البحر الحسنة ويذل كل إنسان ويسقط ارتفاع البشر ويتعالى الرب وحده في ذلك اليوم.

And they shall hide all idols made with hands, having carried them into the caves, and into the clefts of the rocks, and into the caverns of the earth, for fear of the Lord, and by reason of the glory of his might, when he shall arise to strike terribly the earth. For in that day a man shall cast forth his silver and gold abominations, which they made in order to worship vanities and bats; to enter into the caverns of the solid rock, and into the clefts of the rocks, for fear of the Lord, and by reason of the glory of his might, when he shall arise to strike terribly the earth.

ويخفون جميع عمل أيديهم ويحملونه إلى المغائر وشقوق الصخور وفي ثقوب الأرض من أمام صوت الرب ومن مجد قوته. إذا قام ليهشم الأرض في ذلك اليوم يخرج الإنسان رجاسته من الفضة والذهب التي صنعوها ليسجدوا لها والأباطيل والأشباح ليذبحوها في ثقوب الأرض والصخور الصلبة وفي شقوق الصخور من أمام صوت الرب ومن مجد قوته إذا قام ليهشم الأرض مجداً للثالوث الأقدس

Woe to the shepherds that destroy and scatter the sheep of their pasture! أيها الرعاة المفسدون والمبددون في مكان رعيتكم، لذلك هذا يقوله الرب عن الرعاة الذين يرعون شعبى، انتم قد شتتم غنمي وبددتموه ولم تتعهدوها، فهآنذا انتقم منكم حسب أعمالكم الشريرة يقول الرب، اجمع بقية شعبي من جميع الأرض التي فرقتها إليها وآتى بها إلى مراتعها فتنمو وتكثر وأقيم عليها رعاة يرعونها، فلا تخاف منذ الآن ولا ترتعد يقول الرب.

Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will raise up to David a righteous branch, and a king shall reign and understand, and shall execute judgment and righteousness on the earth. وتفسد الأرض فساداً وتنهب الأرض نهباً لأن فم الرب تكلم بهذا. حزن مرتفعوا الأرض والأرض آثمت لأجل سكانها من اجل انهم تركوا عنهم الناموس وبدلوا أوامري وعدلي الأبدي. من أجل هذا اللعنة تاكل الأرض لأن سكانها آثموا. لجل هذا السكان في الأرض يسيرون فقراء ويبقى أناس قليلون، يحزن الخمر وتحزن الكرمة ويتنهد جميع الفرحين بنفوسهم وكف فرح الطبول وفنى تعاظم المنافقين وكف صوت القيثارة، خزوا ولم يشربوا خمراً، صار المسكر مراً للشاربين، خربت كل المدينة، تغلق البيوت ليلا لئلا يدخلها أحد ويولول من أجل الخمر بكل موضع. كف كل سرور الأرض وبقيت البلاد خراباً والبيوت المتروكة تهلك.

All this shall be in the land in the midst of the nations, as if one should strip an olive tree, so shall they strip them; but when the vintage is done,

لنكمن للصديق لأنه ثقل علينا لأنه يقاوم أعمالنا ويرذلنا على مخالفتنا للناموس، ويظهر علينا خطايا العصيان،وان عنده علم من عند الله، ويسمى نفسه إبن الله يصير مبكتا لنا على افكارنا ومنظره ثقيل علينا أن نراه، لأجل أن شعبه لا يشبه غيره وطرقه مخالفة لنا وحسبنا عنده متاخرين وهو متباعد عن طرقنا كتباعده عن الوحوش، ويغضب على القوم الأحرار ويفتخرون بان الله أبوه.

Let us see if his words be true: and let us prove what shall happen in the end of him. For if the just man be the son of God, he will help him, and deliver him from the hand of his enemies. Let us examine him with despitefulness and torture, that we may know his meekness, and prove his patience. Let us condemn him with a shameful death: for by his own saying he shall be respected.

Alas for me! for I am become as one gathering straw in harvest, and as one gathering grape-gleanings in the vintage, when there is no cluster for me to eat the first-ripe fruit: alas my soul! For the godly is perished from the earth; and there is none among men that orders his way aright: they all quarrel even to blood: they grievously afflict every one his neighbour: they prepare their hands for mischief, the prince asks a reward, and the judge speaks flattering words; it is the desire of their soul: therefore I will take away their goods as a devouring moth, and as one who acts by a rigid rule in a day of visitation. Woe, woe, thy times of vengeance are come; now shall be their lamentations. Trust not in friends, and confide not in guides: beware of thy wife, so as not to commit anything to her. For the son dishonours his father, the daughter will rise up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law: those in his house shall be all a man’s enemies. But I will look to the Lord; I will wait upon God my Saviour: my God will hearken to me. Rejoice not against me, mine enemy; for I have fallen yet shall arise; for though I should sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light to me.

الويل لنفسي لأنه قد فنى التقى من الأرض، وليس يوجد مستقيم بين الناس جميعهم، يدانون على دماء، كل واحد يضايق صاحبه ضيقاً ويعدون أيديهم للشر، الرئيس يسأل والقاضي يتكلم بكلام السلامة والقوى ينطق بهوى نفسه، فسأنزع خيراتهم مثل السوس الذي يأكل في يوم مظلم. الويل الويل قد جاء الانتقام. فالآن يكون البكاء. لا تامنوا لأصدقائكم ولا تتكلوا على مدبريكم. إحفظ نفسك من النائم معها ولا تصنع عندها شيئا، لأن الابن يهين أبيه والابنة تقوم على أمها والعروس (الكنة) على حماتها وأعداء الإنسان أهل بيته، وأما انا فأترقب الرب، واتمسك بالله مخلصى فيستجيب لي إلهي، ولا يفرح بي أعدائي فإني إذا سقطت سأقوم أيضاً وإن جلست في الظلمة فالرب سينير لي. مجداً للثالوث الأقدس

عظة لأبينا القديس أنبا يوحنا ذهبي الفم، بركته المقدسة تكون معنا. آمين.

Beloved brethren, what can we say about the transgression of Judas who delivered (betrayed) his Master. It was said that one of the twelve, who is Judas Iscariot went to the chief priests and said to them; how much do you want to pay and I will deliver Him to you? They bargained with him to pay thirty pieces of silver. What a great foolishness; rather, what a great infatuation with silver, which is the source of all evil. Because when he (Judas Iscariot) coveted it, he sold his righteous Teacher and Lord and landed himself in the depths of death. How awful is the love of money. It invited every evil and is worse than Satan’s manipulations. If it (the love of money) possesses someone, it renders him captivated by it. They can no longer fathom themselves and ignore others. They will reject nature’s laws and become anxious at heart. See how many blessings the love of silver took away from Judas because Christ was talking to them openly about the comforts of the kingdom of heavens and the horrors of hell. Every one of them knew how terrible it would be, the sufferings of sinners; He, Christ also honored all those who strived for their soul’s salvation.

ماذا نقول أيها الإخوة الأحباء عن جحود يهوذا الذي أسلم سيدة؟. قيل إن واحدا من الإثنى عشر، الذي هو يهوذا الإسخريوطي، مضى إلى رؤساء الكهنة وقال لهم: ماذا تريدون أن تعطوني وأنا أسلمه إليكم؟ فساوموه على ثلاثين من الفضة! يا لهذا الجهل العظيم، وما أشر محبة المال الذي هو أصل لكل الشرور. لأن هذا لما اشتهاه باع معلمه الصالح وسيده البار، فطوح بنفسه في هوة الهلاك، لأنه كم هو ردئ حب المال، فهو مجلبة لكل شر وأردأ من حيل الشياطين، فالنفوس التي يتسلط عليها يجعل أصحابها يجنون ولعا بها، فلا يعرفون ذواتهم بل ويتعامون عن معرفة الآخرين، ويرفضون ناموس الطبيعة، ويكون قلبهم فزعا حائراً. أنظروا كم من النعمة نزعتها محبة الفضة من نفس يهوذا؟ لأن سيدنا يسوع المسيح كان يخاطبهم علانية عن هول الجحيم ونعيم ملكوت السموات، ويعرف كل واحد مقدار عذاب الخطاة، ويكرم كل المجاهدين لخلاص نفوسهم.

حينئذ لما رأى يهوذا الذي أسلمه أنه قد دين، ندم ورد الثلاثين من الفضة إلى رؤساء الكهنة والشيوخ قائلا: إنى قد أخطأت إذ سلمت دماً ذكيا. فقالوا له: ما شأننا؟ ما علينا ؟ أبصر أنت! فطرح الفضة في الهيكل، ومضى، فخنق نفسه، فأخذ رؤساء الكهنة الفضة وقالوا: لا يحل لنا أن نلقيها في بيت القربان لأنها ثمن دم، فتشاوروا وإبتاعوا بها حقل الفخارى مقبرة للغرباء. ولذلك دعى اسم ذلك الحقل، حقل الدم إلى هذا اليوم، حينئذ تم ما قيل بأرمياء النبي القائل: أخذوا الثلاثين من الفضة ثمن المثمن الذي ثمنه بنو إسرائيل، ودفعوها في حقل الفخارى كما أمرنى الرب.

إن كنت المسيح فقل لنا. فقال لهم: إن قلت لكم لا تؤمنون، وإن سألتكم لا تجيبون، ومن الآن يكون إبن الإنسان جالساً عن يمين قوة الله. فقال الجميع: أنت إذن إبن الله ؟!. فقال لهم: أنتم تقولون أنى أنا هو. أما هم فقالوا: ما حاجتنا بعد إلى شهادة، فإننا نحن قد سمعنا من فمه.

فخرج بيلاطس إليهم وقال لهم: أية شكاية تقدمونها على هذا الرجل؟! أجابوا وقالوا له: لو لم يكن هذا شريراً لما كنا نسلمه إليك. فقال لهم بيلاطس: خذوه أنتم وأحكموا عليه بحسب ناموسكم. فقال له اليهود: نحن لا يجوز لنا أن نقتل أحداً. ليتم قول يسوع الذي قال مشيراً إلى آية ميتة يموت.

أجاب يسوع وقال: أمن ذاتك تقول هذا، أم آخرون قالوا لك عنى؟!. أجاب بيلاطس قائلا: ألعلى أنا ايضاً يهودى؟!. إن أمتك ورؤساء الكهنة هم الذين أسلموك إلى، فماذا فعلت؟!. أجاب يسوع: إن مملكتي ليست من هذا العالم. لو كانت مملكتي من هذا العالم لكان خدامي يحاربون عني لكى لا أسلم إلى اليهود. والآن مملكتي ليست من هذا العالم. فقال له بيلاطس: أملك إذن أنت؟!. أجاب يسوع: أنت الذي تقول أنى ملك، وأنى أنا لهذا العمل ولدت، ومن أجل هذا أتيت إلى العالم لأشهد للحق. فكل من هو من الحق يسمع صوتى. فقال له بيلاطس: ما هو الحق؟!. فقال هذا وخرج إلى اليهود وقال لهم: إنني لا أجد علة ما في هذا الإنسان، وعادتكم أن أطلق لكم واحداً في الفصح، أفتريدون أن أطلق لكم ملك اليهود؟!. فصرخوا جميعاً قائلين: لا تطلق هذا، بل أطلق باراباس، وكان باراباس لصاً.

Early on Friday, the chief priests convened together and condemned the Savior so that they may deliver Him to Pilate to kill him. When he saw what he did, Judas regretted what he did and returned the silver to the chief priests saying: I have sinned in betraying innocent blood. He went and hung himself adding a transgression to a transgression. The chief priests took the silver and bought with it a potter’s field to bury strangers in, so that it may be fulfilled what had been spoken by the prophet Jeremiah; And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him on whom a price had been set by some of the sons of Israel, and they gave them for the potter’s field as the Lord directed me. They stood Jesus before Pilate, who asked Him; are you a king? Jesus replied, you have said so. They have accused Him (Jesus) a lot bit He made no answer. Do you hear all these testimonies, Pilate asked. He did not open his mouth to utter a word. The governor wondered greatly at His calmness and silence. How can the Lamb who came to take away the sins of the world open His mouth. Isaiah prophesized about him saying, by oppression and judgment he was taken away. O Jerusalem, you killer of prophets your dwellers will weep for you today. He (Jesus) is not a prophet. He is God and His blood wipes off the sins.

باكر يوم الجمعة إجتمع رؤساء الكهنة معاً وصنعوا الحكم على المخلص لكي يسلموه إلى بيلاطس ليقتله.فيهوذا لما نظر ما كان ندم على ما فعله. وأعاد الفضة إلى رؤساء الكهنة قائلاً: إنني ألقيت للحكم دماً ذكياً.فمضى وخنق نفسه وحده وكمل إثماً على إثم. فأخذ رؤساء الكهنة الفضة وابتاعوا بها حقل الفاخوري.لكي يكمل الذي قيل من أجل الثلاثين من الفضة ثمن الذكي. فأقاموا يسوع أمام بيلاطس فسأله: أنت ملك؟ أنت قلت. أم آخر أخبرك. أنا ولدت يا بيلاطس من أجل المملكة. فاشتكوا عليه كثيراً.فلم يُجب المبارك بشيء. أما تسمع هذه الشهادات الكثيرة فلم يفتح فمه ليقول كلمة. فتعجب الوالي جداً.من أجل صمته وهدوءه. كيف يفتح الحمل فاه الذي أتى ليحمل خطايا العالم. وقد شهد أشعياء من أجله قائلاً: إن مداينته قد ارتفعت مثل الخروف. قد كملت اليوم هذه النبوة في أورشليم في وسط إسرائيل. يبكي عليك بنوك اليوم يا أورشليم يا قاتلة الأنبياء. هذا ليس نبي لكنه إله ودمه يمحي الآثام.
