And it came to pass after these things that God tempted Abraam, and said to him, Abraam, Abraam; and he said, Lo! I am here. And he said, Take thy son, the beloved one, whom thou hast loved—Isaac, and go into the high land, and offer him there for a whole-burnt-offering on one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. And Abraam rose up in the morning and saddled his ass, and he took with him two servants, and Isaac his son, and having split wood for a whole-burnt-offering, he arose and departed, and came to the place of which God spoke to him, on the third day.

وحدث بعد هذه الأمور أن الله أمتحن ابراهيم وقال له : يا إبراهيم يا أبراهيم. فقال : هآنذا. قال له : خذ إبنك الحبيب الذى تحبه، إسحق، وإمض إلى الأرض المرتفعة وأصعده لى هناك محرقة على أحد الجبال التى أريك. فقام إبراهيم مبكرا وأسرج أتانه، وأخذ إثنين من غلمانه معه وإسحق بنه، وشقق حطب المحرقة، وقام ومضى إلى الموضع الذى قال له الله،

And Abraam having lifted up his eyes, saw the place afar off. And Abraam said to his servants, Sit ye here with the ass, and I and the lad will proceed thus far, and having worshipped we will return to you. And Abraam took the wood of the whole-burnt-offering, and laid it on Isaac his son, and he took into his hands both the fire and the knife, and the two went together.

وفى اليوم الثالث رفع ابراهيم عينيه فأبصر المكان من بعيد، فقال ابراهيم لغلاميه : إجلسا أنتما ههنا مع الأتان،وأنا والغلام نمى إلى هناك فنسجد ونرجع إليكما. فأخذ ابراهيم حطب المحرقة وحمله إسحق إبنه، وأخذ بيده النار والسكين وذهبا كلاهما معاً.

And Isaac said to Abraam his father, Father. And he said, What is it, son? And he said, Behold the fire and the wood, where is the sheep for a whole-burnt-offering? And Abraam said, God will provide himself a sheep for a whole-burnt-offering, my son. And both having gone together, came to the place which God spoke of to him; and there Abraam built the altar, and laid the wood on it, and having bound the feet of Isaac his son together, he laid him on the altar upon the wood.

وقال إسحق لإبراهيم أبيه : يا أبى. فقال : ماذا تقول يا إبنى ؟ قال هوذا النار والحطب، فأين الحمل الذى يقدم للمحرقة يا إبنى. ومضيا كلاهما معاً فلما وصلا الى المكان الذى قال له الله عنه، بنى هناك إبراهيم مذبحاً ورفع عليه الحطب، وأوثق إسحق إبنه، ووضعه على المذبح فوق الحطب،

And Abraam stretched forth his hand to take the knife to slay his son. And an angel of the Lord called him out of heaven, and said, Abraam, Abraam. And he said, Behold, I am here. And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the child, neither do anything to him, for now I know that thou fearest God, and for my sake thou hast not spared thy beloved son.

ومد إبراهيم يده ليأخذ السكين ليذبح إسحق إبنه فناداه ملاك الرب من السماء قائلاً : إبراهيم. ابراهيم. فقال : هأنا. فقال : لا تمد يدك الى الغلام ولا تفعل به شيئاً، لأنى الآن علمت أنك تخاف الله ولم تشفق على إبنك الحبيب لأجلى،

And Abraam lifted up his eyes and beheld, and lo! a ram caught by his horns in a plant of Sabec; and Abraam went and took the ram, and offered him up for a whole-burnt-offering in the place of Isaac his son.

فرفع إبراهيم عينيه ونظر وغذا بكبش موثق بقرنيه فى شجرة صاباك (بلوط) فمضى ابراهيم وأخذ الكبش وأصعده محرقة عوضاًً عن إسحق إبنه،

And Abraam called the name of that place, The Lord hath seen; that they might say to-day, In the mount the Lord was seen. And an angel of the Lord called Abraam the second time out of heaven, saying, I have sworn by myself, says the Lord, because thou hast done this thing, and on my account hast not spared thy beloved son, surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of heaven, and as the sand which is by the shore of the sea, and thy seed shall inherit the cities of their enemies. And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because thou hast hearkened to my voice. And Abraam returned to his servants, and they arose and went together to the well of the oath; and Abraam dwelt at the well of the oath.

وسمى إبراهيم إسم ذلك الموضع: الرب تراءى لى على هذا الجبل، ونادى ملاك الرب ابراهيم مرة ثانية من السماء قائلاً: إنى أقسمت بذاتى يقول الرب بما أنك عملت بكلامى ولم تشفق على إبنك الحبيب من أجلى لأباركنك تبريكاً، وأكثرن نسلك تكثيراً كنجوم السماء وكالرمل الذى على شاطىء البحر، ويرث نسلك مدن مضايقيك وتتبارك بك جميع قبائل الارض، من أجل أنك سمعت لقولى. ثم رجع إبراهيم الى غلاميه، فقاموا وانصرفوا معاً الى بئر الحلف (بئر سبع).

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me; he has sent me to preach glad tidings to the poor, to heal the broken in heart, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind; to declare the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of recompence; to comfort all that mourn; that there should be given to them that mourn in Sion glory instead of ashes, the oil of joy to the mourners, the garment of glory for the spirit of heaviness: and they shall be called generations of righteousness, the planting of the Lord for glory.

روح الرب علىّ لذلك مسحنى لأبشر المساكين، وأرسلنى لأشفى المنكسرى القلوب، وأبشر المسبيين بالعتق، والمأسورين بالأطلاق، والعمى بالبصر، لأنادى بسنة مقبولة للرب، وبيوم المجازاة وأعزى جميع النائحين، وأعطى مجداً لنائحى صهيون عوضاً عن الرماد، ودهن فرح للنائحين وحلة مجد بدل روح كآبة القلب، فيدعون جيل الأبرار وغرس الرب الممجد،

And they shall build the old waste places, they shall raise up those that were before made desolate, and shall renew the desert cities, even those that had been desolate for many generations. And strangers shall come and feed thy flocks, and aliens shall be thy ploughmen and vine-dressers. But ye shall be called priests of the Lord, the ministers of God: ye shall eat the strength of nations, and shall be admired because of their wealth. Thus shall they inherit the land a second time, and everlasting joy shall be upon their head.

ويبنون خرب الدهر، ويشيدون ما دمرّ منذ القدم ويجددون المدن الموحشة التى خربت منذ أجيال، وتأتى الغرباء ويرعون غنمهم والقبائل الغريبة يكونون لهم حراثين وكرامين، أما أنتم فتدعون كهنة الرب وخدام الله وتأكلون ثروة الأمم، ومن الغنى يتعجبون منكم ويتلاشى حزنكم وخزيكم وتنالون وترثون دائما فى أرضهم وتأخذون نصيبهم ويكون لكم فرح.

ثم خرج ملك سدوم فتلقاه إبرام بعد رجوعه من حرب لعومر والملوك الذين معه إلى مرج شوى الذى هو مرج الملك، وأخرج ملكى صادق ملك ساليم خبزاً وخمراً لأنه كان كاهن الله العلى وبارك إبرام وقال : مبارك إبرام من الله العلى الذى خلق السماء والأرض ومبارك الله العلى هذا الذى أسلم أعدائك فى يديك، وأعطاه العشر من كل شىء. مجداً للثالوث الاقدس

حى هو الرب الذى حكم علىّ هكذا والضابط الكل الذى أحزن نفسى، إنه ما دامت نسمتى فىّ وروح القدس فى أنفى لن تنطق شفتاى إثماً ولا تتلوا نفسى ظلماً، حاشاى أن أقول أنكم أبرار إلى الآن ولن أقلع عن كمالى وقد تمسكت بالحق فلا أتركه عنى، ولست أعرف أنى فعلت شيئاً من الشر أو الظلم بل أعدائى يصيرون مثل سقوط المنافقين والقائمون على مثل هلاك مخالفى الناموس، فإنه ما هو رجاء المنافق إذا صبر وتوكل على الرب، اتراه يخلص أو يسمع الرب صلاته ؟ أو إذا أتى عليه ضيق، هل يجد أى دالة أمامه؟ أو إذا صرخ إليه هل يسمعه ؟ بل إنى أعرفكم بما فى يدى الرب ولا أكذب بما هو عند الضابط الكل، هوذا كلكم تعلمون أنه باطل الكل إن كثر بنوه فيكونون للذبح وإذا إعتزوا يتصقون والباقون له موتاً يموتون وأراملهم لا يرحمهم أحد. جمعوا الفضة كالتراب وأعدوا الذهب كالطين، هذه جميعها يأخذها الصديقون ويرث أهل البيت أمواله، بيته صار مثل العثة ومثل العنكبوت. يضطجع الغنى ولا يعود ليفتح عينيه فلا يوجد. دخلت عليه الأحزان كالمياه فى الليل فيحمله الضباب، ويأخذه اليقظ فيذهب ويقتلعه من مقره مهاناً منبوذاً لا يشفق عليه، وهروباً يهرب من يديه فيرفع يديه عليه ويستأصله ممن مكانه، الموضع الذى إستخرجوا منه الفضة لا يوجد، وأستخرجوا الحديد من الأرض ومن الحجر يشغل النحاس. ضع للظلمة حداً وهو يفحص فى كل قصى على الحجر الذى فى الظلمة وظلال الموت ويقطع جيراً من الوادى والذين ينسون البر مرضوا من البشر والأرض تأتى بالخبز. ينقلب أسفلها كما بالنار حجارتها هى موضع الياقوت وترابها ذهب، سبيل لم يعرفه طير ولم تنظره عين باشق، ولم يطأ بنو المتكبرين لم يعبره الأسد إلى الزاوية، يمد يده ويهدم الجبال من أساساتها ويقلب قوة الأنهار، وأظهر لهم كل فعل جليل رأته أعينهم، وكشف قوته نوراً أما الحكمة فأين توجد وأين مقر الفهم، لا يعرف الإنسان الطريق و لا توجد لها فى البشر.مجداً للثالوث الاقدس

For what is the hope of the ungodly, that he holds to it? will he indeed trust in the Lord and be saved? Will God hear his prayer? or, when distress has come upon him, has he any confidence before him? or will God hear him as he calls upon him?

Yet now I will tell you what is in the hand of the Lord: I will not lie concerning the things which are with the Almighty. Behold, ye all know that ye are adding vanity to vanity. This is the portion of an ungodly man from the Lord, and the possession of oppressors shall come upon them from the Almighty. And if their children be many, they shall be for slaughter: and if they grow up, they shall beg. And they that survive of him shall utterly perish, and no one shall pity their widows. Even if he should gather silver as earth, and prepare gold as clay; All these things shall the righteous gain, and the truehearted shall possess his wealth. And his house is gone like moths, and like a spider’s web. The rich man shall lie down, and shall not continue: he has opened his eyes, and he is not. Pains have come upon him as water, and darkness has carried him away by night. And a burning wind shall catch him, and he shall depart, and it shall utterly drive him out of his place. And God shall cast trouble upon him, and not spare: he would fain flee out of his hand. He shall cause men to clap their hands against them, and shall hiss him out of his place.

For there is a place for the silver, whence it comes, and a place for the gold, whence it is refined. 2 For iron comes out of the earth, and brass is hewn out like stone.

He has set a bound to darkness, and he searches out every limit: a stone is darkness, and the shadow of death. There is a cutting off the torrent by reason of dust: so they that forget the right way are weakened; they are removed from among men. As for the earth, out of it shall come bread: under it has been turned up as it were fire. Her stones are the place of the sapphire: and her dust supplies man with gold. قد توجد أعمال نخالها أنها صالحة ولكنها رديئة عند الله، وذلك أننا نتغاضى عن بعضنا بعضاً فنخطىء فى المواضع المقدسة. لأن الرب لم يغرس فى الفردوس الاشجار الصالحة والغير الصالحة، بل غرسه من الاشجار الصالحة فقط، ولم يغرس فيه أشجاراً غير مثمرة أو رديئة الثمر، وليس هذا فقط بل والناس أنفسهم الذين نجعلهم هناك عندما خالفوا لم يحتملهم بل أخرجهم منه. فمن هذا أعلموا أيها الاخوة الأحباء أنه لا يجب أن تملأ مساكن الله المقدسة من الاشرار والصالحين، كما فى العالم المملوء من الخطاة والظالمين والقديسين والانجاس، ولكن الذين يخطئون لا يتركهم فيها بل يخرجهم. أنا أعرف أن الأرض كلها هى للرب، فأن كان هكذا بيته وكذا الارض كلها فالذين يسكنون فيها يحيون به، لهذا يجب علينا أن نخافه ونحفظ وصاياه، فإذا ما سقطنا فى واحدة منها فلنبك وننتحب امامه حتى إذا ما رأى تنهد وشوق أنفسنا مثل المرأة التى بلت قدميه بدموعها. نكون حقاً مستحقين صوته الحلو القائل : مغفورة لك خطاياك، إذهب بسلام، إيمانك قد خلصك. وقد رأيتم يا إخوتى أن الإيمان يعمل الخلاص ويعلن شوقه فيه، فإذن كل من ليس له شوق فى حفظ وصايا الله وغيره فى اقتداء العقلاء بالروح الذين شهد لهم أنهم عرفوا الحق وقبلوا نصيحته بأعمالهم، والذين ليس لهم إيمان يسقطون فى كل عمل ردىء ويهلكون النفس كما هو مكتوب أن الرجل العاقل يقبل النصيحة ويعمل والجاهل يسقط على وجهه.

And when Abraham became elevated in God’s eyes above all other people, the Lord appeared to him and said: Abraham, Abraham whom I love, obey my words and do my will. Take your dear son Isaac and offer him to me a sacrifice on a mountain. Abraham did as the Lord said. He took his beloved son, two of his servants, a donkey, and went on. When he saw the mountain a afar, he left the two servants and the donkey with them and said; I shall go there with my son to pray and come back. He loaded the kindling on his only son and carried the knife and the fire. They went up the mountain to the place that the Lord Almighty designated. Isaac said to his father Abraham: Here is the fire where is the lamb? Abraham said to him: My son, the Lord will arrange for a sacrificial lamb that pleases him. Then he gathered stones, and built an alter, and stacked the firewood on the alter. Before he lit it, he tied the boy’s hands and feet and put him on the wood. The boy (Isaac) said: Here I am your sacrifice that you offer, father. When Abraham held the knife and started to proceed to fulfill the offering, the Lord shouted and said: Abraham, hold your hand and do not touch (your son) for I have verified your love towards me. Isaac your beloved son shall grow and multiply. And as you did not hesitate to offer your first born, I shall bless you and your descendents; your son shall be like the stars and will be as numerous as the sand. Abraham looked behind him and saw a sheep tied with its horns to a tree of Safak. He untied Isaac and slew the sheep instead of him. And the Lord Almighty blessed Abraham because he found him acceptable in all his deeds. And the Abraham returned and went back with the two servants and his son.

فلما إزداد ابراهيم رفعة أمام الرب اكثر من جميع الناس، ظهر له الرب وخاطبه هكذا قائلاً : يا إبراهيم يا إبراهيم الذى أحبه إسمع كلامى وإفعل إرادتى، خذ إسحق إبنك حبيبك، وقدّمه لى محرقة على احد الجبال. فقام إبراهيم كقول الرب وأخذ إبنه حبيبه وغلامين من عبيده وأسرج دابته وسار هكذا فلما رأى الجبل من بعيد ترك الغلامين والدابة معهما وقال : أنا وإبنى ننطلق الى هناك لنسجد ثم نعود اليكما. وحمل الحطب على وحيده والسكين والنار كانا مع إبراهيم، وصعد الأثنان على الجبل المقدس الموضع الذى أعلمه به ضابط الكل، فقال إسحق لأبيه إبراهيم : هوذا الحطب فأين هو الحمل ؟ فقال : يا بنى الله يعد حملاً للذبح مقبولاً يرضيه ثم جمع أحجار وبنى مذبحاً وجعل الحطب عليه قبل أن يوقد النار، وشد يدى الصبى وساقبه وجعله على الحطب، فقال الصبى : هآنذا اليوم قربانك يا أبتاه الذى تصنعه. فمد يده وأخذ السكين لكى يكمل القضية، وإذا بصوت كان من الرب نحو إبراهيم هكذا قائلاً : إمسك يدك ولا تصنع به شراً فقد عرفت محبتك لى، بالنمو ينمو وبالكثرة يكثر إسحق إبنك الحبيب، وكما أنك لم تشفق على ابنك بكرك أنا سأباركك وزرعك معاً وبنوك يكونون مثل النجوم ويكثر عددهم مثل الرمل. ثم إلتفت إبراهيم فنظر خروفاً مربوطاً بقرنيه فى شجرة صاباك (بلوط) فحل إسحق من وثاقه وذبح الخروف عوضاً عنه، وبارك الرب ضابط الكل إبراهيم لأنه وجده مرضيا له فى سائر أعماله، وهكذا رجع الشيخ وأخذ الغلامين وإبنه ومضوا.
