The priest cleans the basin (lekan) and puts water in it. The priest puts on the service vestments. Then the priest(s) and deacons moves to the basin holding candles and chant

The priest stands in front of the sanctuary facing the east while holding the censer, asks the deacon to tell the congregation to start the prayer and says

In the Vespers Incense, and in a place other than the church, he signs the sides of the altar and says

And from this holy place that is Thine.

وعن موضعك المقدس هذا الذى لك.

Then he continues the prayer and says

But those things which are good and profitable do Thou provide for us, for Thou art He Who hast given us the authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and upon all the power of the enemy.

For Thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: Thou delightest not in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, Thou wilt not despise.

Do good in Thy good pleasure unto Zion: build Thou the walls of Jerusalem. Then shalt Thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon Thine altar.

And God appeared to him by the oak of Mambre, as he sat by the door of his tent at noon. And he lifted up his eyes and beheld, and lo! three men stood before him; and having seen them he ran to meet them from the door of his tent, and did obeisance to the ground. And he said, Lord, if indeed I have found grace in thy sight, pass not by thy servant. Let water now be brought, and let them wash your feet, and do ye refresh yourselves under the tree. And I will bring bread, and ye shall eat, and after this ye shall depart on your journey, on account of which refreshment ye have turned aside to your servant. And he said, So do, as thou hast said. And Abraam hasted to the tent to Sarrha, and said to her, Hasten, and knead three measures of fine flour, and make cakes. And Abraam ran to the kine, and took a young calf, tender and good, and gave it to his servant, and he hasted to dress it. And he took butter and milk, and the calf which he had dressed; and he set them before them, and they did eat, and he stood by them under the tree.

وظهر الرب لإبراهيم عند شجرة ممرا، وهو جالس على باب خبائه وقت الظهيرة فرفع عينيه ونظر، وإذا ثلاثة رجال واقفون لديه. فلما نظرهم ركض لإستقبالهم من باب الخيمة وسجد على الارض وقال : يا سيدى إن كنت قد وجدت نعمة لديك فلا تتجاوز عبدك، فليؤخذ قليل ماء وإغسلوا أرجلكم ثم إستريحوا تحت الشجرة فنأخذ خبزاً وتأكلون، وبعد هذا تمضوا لأنكم قد مررتم على عبدكم. فقالوا : إفعل هكذا كما قلت.فأسرع إبراهيم الى الخيمة، الى سارة وقال لها : اسرعى واعجنى ثلاث مكاييل وإصنعيها خبز ملة. ثم ركض إبراهيم الى أبقاره وأخذ عجلاً رخصاً حسناً واعطاه لغلمانه ليعملوه طعاماً، ثم أخذ زبداً ولبناً، والعجل الذى عمله ووضعه قدامهم وأكلوا، بينما كان هو واقفاً تحت الشجرة.

And he said to him, Where is Sarrha thy wife? And he answered and said, Behold! in the tent. And he said, I will return and come to thee according to this period seasonably, and Sarrha thy wife shall have a son; and Sarrha heard at the door of the tent, being behind him. And Abraam and Sarrha were old, advanced in days, and the custom of women ceased with Sarrha. And Sarrha laughed in herself, saying, The thing has not as yet happened to me, even until now, and my lord is old. And the Lord said to Abraam, Why is it that Sarrha has laughed in herself, saying, Shall I then indeed bear? but I am grown old. Shall anything be impossible with the Lord? At this time I will return to thee seasonably, and Sarrha shall have a son. But Sarrha denied, saying, I did not laugh, for she was afraid. And he said to her, Nay, but thou didst laugh.

وقالوا له : إين سارة إمرأتك؟!. أما هو فأجاب قائلاً : ها هى داخل الخباء. فقال : إنى أرجع إليك فى هذا الزمن من العام المقبل ويكون لسارة إمرأتك إبن. فسمعت سارة وهى عند باب الخيمة من خلفه، وكان إبراهيم وسارة شيخين متقدمين فى أيامهما وقد إنقطع أن يكون لسارة كما للنساء، فضحكت سارة فى نفسها قائلة : أيكون لى فى هذا الآن وقد شاخ سيدى. فقال الرب لإبراهيم : لماذا ضحكت سارة فى نفسها قائلة أترى بالحقيقة ألد وأنا قد شخت؟!. هل يستحيل على الله شىء؟!. فى مثل هذا الزمان أرجع إليك فى العام المقبل ويكون لسارة إبن، فأنكرت سارة قائلة : لم أضحك لأنها خافت. فقال : لا بل ضحكت!.

And the men having risen up from thence looked towards Sodom and Gomorrha. And Abraam went with them, attending them on their journey. And the Lord said, Shall I hide from Abraam my servant what things I intend to do? But Abraam shall become a great and populous nation, and in him shall all the nations of the earth be blest. For I know that he will order his sons, and his house after him, and they will keep the ways of the Lord, to do justice and judgment, that the Lord may bring upon Abraam all things whatsoever he has spoken to him. And the Lord said, The cry of Sodom and Gomorrha has been increased towards me, and their sins are very great. I will therefore go down and see, if they completely correspond with the cry which comes to me, and if not, that I may know. And the men having departed thence, came to Sodom; and Abraam was still standing before the Lord. And Abraam drew nigh and said, Wouldest thou destroy the righteous with the wicked, and shall the righteous be as the wicked?

ثم قام الرجال من هناك وتطلعوا نحو سدوم وعمورة، وكان إبراهيم ماشياً معهم ليشيعهم. فقال الرب : هل أأخفى ما أنا فاعله عن عبدى إبراهيم وإبراهيم يكون أمة عظيمة وكثيرة، وتتبارك به جميع أمم الأرض؟! لأنى علمت أنه يوصى بنيه وبيته من بعده فيحفظوا طرق الرب، ليعملوا براً وعدلاً لكى يعمل الرب لإبراهيم بما تكلم به معه، وقال الرب : إن صراخ سدوم وعمورة قد كثر وخطاياهم عظيمة جداً إنى أنزل لأعرف هل صراخها الآتى الى قد كمل أم لا! وإنصرف الرجال من هناك وذهبوا نحو سدوم وأما إبراهيم فكان لم يزل واقفاً أمام الرب، فأقترب إبراهيم وقال للرب : لا تهلك البار مع الأثيم، فيكون الصديق مثل المنافق.

الحكمة بنت لها بيتاً ودعمته بسبعة عمدان، وذبحت ذبائحها ومزجت خمرها فى البواطى، وهيأت مائدتها، وأرسلت عبيدها لتدعو بصوت عال على الزوايا قائلة : من كان جاهل فيكم فليأت الىّ، والناقص علماً فليقبل نحوى فأقول لهم تعالوا الىّ، وكلوا من خبزى، وإشربوا من خمرى التى مزجتها لكم.

Leave folly, that ye may reign for ever; and seek wisdom, and improve understanding by knowledge. He that reproves evil men shall get dishonour to himself; and he that rebukes an ungodly man shall disgrace himself. Rebuke not evil men, lest they should hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee. Give an opportunity to a wise man, and he will be wiser: instruct a just man, and he will receive more instruction. أتركوا الجهل فتحيوا. أطلبوا الحكمة فتعمروا. وأنهضوا الفهم بالعلم. من يوبخ مستهزئاً لئلا يبغضك، وبخ حكيماً فيحبك. وبخ الجاهل فيمقتك. أعط الحكيم سبباً فيزداد حكمة، علم صديقاً فيزداد قبولاً. بدء الحكمة مخافة الرب، ومشورة الأبرار فهم، معرفة الناموس للفطنة الجيدة وبهذا النوع تعيش زمناً كثيراً وتزداد سنو حياتك.

أيها العطاش إذهبوا الى المياه، ويا من ليس لهم فضة إذهبوا وأشتروا لتأكلوا وتشربوا بلا فضة وبلا ثمن خبزاً ولبناً وشحماً. لماذا تشترون بفضة وتعبكم لغير شبع ؟!. إسمعوا لى فتأكلوا الخيرات ولتتلذذ بالدسم نفوسكم.

Give heed with your ears, and follow my ways: hearken to me, and your soul shall live in prosperity; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant, the sure mercies of David. Behold I have made him a testimony among the Gentiles, a prince and commander to the Gentiles. Nations which know thee not, shall call upon thee, and peoples which are not acquainted with thee, shall flee to thee for refuge, for the sake of the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel; for he has glorified thee.

أميلوا آذانكم وهلموا الىّ، أطيعونى فتحيا نفوسكم بالخيرات، وأقطع لكم عهداً أبدياً مراحم داود الصادقة.هوذا قد جعلته مشاهداً فى الأمم ورئيساً وموصياً للشعوب. ها أمة لا تعرفها تدعوها وأمة لا تعرفك تركض إليك. من أجل إلهك قدوس إسرائيل لأنه قد مجّدك.

Seek ye the Lord, and when ye find him, call upon him; and when he shall draw nigh to you, let the ungodly leave his ways, and the transgressor his counsels: and let him return to the Lord, and he shall find mercy; for he shall abundantly pardon your sins. For my counsels are not as your counsels, nor are my ways as your ways, saith the Lord. But as the heaven is distant from the earth, so is my way distant from your ways, and your thoughts from my mind. For as rain shall come down, or snow, from heaven, and shall not return until it have saturated the earth, and it bring forth, and bud, and give seed to the sower, and bread for food: so shall my word be, whatever shall proceed out of my mouth, it shall by no means turn back, until all the things which I willed shall have been accomplished; and I will make thy ways prosperous, and will effect my commands. أطلبوا الرب وحين تجدوه أدعوه ما دام قريب منكم. ليترك الشرير طريقه، ورجل الإثم أفكاره وليتب الى الرب فيخلصه لأنه بكثرة يغفر لكم خطاياكم، لأن أفكاركم ليست كأفكارى ولا طرقكم كطرقى يقول الرب، لأنه كما إذا نزل المطر أو الثلج من السماء لا يرجع حتى يروى الأرض ويجعلها تلد وتنبت وتعطى زرعاً للزارع وخبزاً للآكل، هكذا تكون الكلمة التى تخرج من فمى لا ترجع الىّ حتى تكمل ما أريده وتقوم طرقى وأوامرى، لأنكم بفرح تخرجون وترجعون لأن الجبال والآكام تنشد أمامكم ترنماً وكل شجر الحقل تصفق بأغصانها عوضاً عن الشوك (البلان) ينبت سرو (شربين) وعوضاً عن القريس (السوكران) يصعد آس، ويكون للرب إسماً علامة أبدية لا تنقطع،

Thus saith the Lord, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my mercy to be revealed.

هكذا قال الرب : إحفظوا الحكم وأجروا العدل لأنه قريب مجيىء خلاصى وإستعلان برى.

And he brought me out by the way of the northern gate, and he led me round by the way outside to the gate of the court that looks eastward; and, behold, water came down from the right side, in the direction in which a man went forth opposite; and there was a measuring line in his hand, and he measured a thousand cubits with the measure; and he passed through the water; it was water of a fountain: and again he measured a thousand, and passed through the water; and the water was up to the thighs: and again he measured a thousand; and he passed through water up to the loins. and again he measured a thousand; and he could not pass through: for the water rose as of a torrent which men cannot pass over.

ثم حملنى (الروح) وادخلنى من باب البيت وإذا ماء خارج من المشرق من تحت أسقفة الباب الشرقى لأن وجه البيت كان نحو المشرق، وكان الماء منحدراً من الجانب الأيمن للبيت عن جنوبى المذبح، ثم أخرجنى من طريق باب الشمال، وطاف بى الى الباب الخارجى من الباب الذى يتجه نحو المشرق وإذا ماء كان يجرى تحت الجانب الأيمن كمثل إنسان قدامه وقصبة فى يده فقاس الفاً بالمقياس وعبر فى الماء. وكان الماء الى الركبة، ثم قاس الفاً أخرى بالقياس وعبر فى الماء، فكان الماء الى الحقوين، ثم قاس الفاً أيضاً فى وادى لم يستطع عبوره لأن المياه طمت كمياه فى واد منحدر لا يعبر.

And he said to me, Hast thou seen this, son of man? Then he brought me, and led me back to the brink of the river as I returned; and, behold, on the brink of the river there were very many trees on this side and on that side. And he said to me, This is the water that goes forth to Galilee that lies eastward, and it is gone down to Arabia, and has reached as far as to the sea to the outlet of the water: and it shall heal the waters. And it shall come to pass, that every animal of living and moving creatures, all on which the river shall come, shall live: and there shall be there very many fish; for this water shall go thither, and it shall heal them, and they shall live: everything on which the river shall come shall live.

وقال لى : أرأيت يا إبن الأنسان؟!. ثم ذهب بى وأرجعنى إلى شاطىء النهر واذا عند رجوعى أشجار كثيرة جداً على شاطىء النهر من هنا ومن هناك، وقال لى : هذه المياه خارجة من الجليل الذى بالدائرة الشرقية وتنحدر الى بلاد العرب وتذهب الى البحر على الماء الجارى فتطهر سائر المياه ويصير أن كل نفس حية تدب حيثما يتبدد ماء هذا النهر عليها تتطهر من كل شىء وكل ما يأتى عليه ماء هذا النهر يطهر ويحيا.

عظة لأبينا القديس أنبا شنودة رئيس المتوحدين، بركته المقدسة تكون معنا. آمين.

Brethren, we ought to be humbled in front of He who suffered on our behalf. We ought to fear Him who poured the water in a bowl and washed the feet of His disciples with his impeccable hands. Let us present Him with good deeds that deserve this great modesty that He demonstrated for our sake. Let us repent our sins that we committed. Because if we do not repent, we will be condemned in hell as sin loving. What then can we hope for often we have been cast out of heaven, face the judgment and being rejected for our sins. We will be judged twice; not because we have sinned without knowledge but because what we consciously did was worse of what we did without knowledge. Not only because we have sinned, but also because we did not repent. Why can’t the sheep know the voice of the real shepherd, the given life and resort to Him? He who paid a dear price His blood and surrendered Himself for their salvation. He who gave us His Body to eat and His Blood to drink; Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, the God, Son of God, who dwells in the highest forever.

فلنستح الآن يا إخوتى من الذى تألم عنا، ولنخف من الذى إشتد بمنديل وصب الماء فى المغسل وغسل أرجل تلاميذه بيديه الطاهرتين، ولنصنع ثماراً تستحق هذا الإتضاع العظيم الذى صار فيه من أجلنا. لكى نتوب سريعاً من خطايانا التى إرتكبناها. لأننا أن لم نتب فسيقال عنا فى السموات إننا محبون للخطايا، فماذا يكون رجاؤنا بعد إذا طردنا من السماء وطرحنا الى الحكم ورفضنا لأجل خطايانا وندان دينونة مضاعفة، لا لأننا أخطأنا بغير معرفة فقط، بل لأن ما عملناه بمعرفة كان أردأ مما عملناه بغير معرفة، ولا لكوننا أخطأنا فقط بل لكوننا لم نتب.لماذا لم تعرف الخراف صوت الراعى الحقيقى المحيى وتلتجىء اليه ؟ ذلك الذى إشتراها بدمه وأعالها وأسلم ذاته فداءّ عنا، الذى أعطانا جسده لنأكله ودمه لنشربه، يسوع المسيح ربنا ومخلصنا يسوع الإله العلى الكائن فى الأعالى الى الأبد.

صادقة هى الكلمة ومستحقة أن نقبلها بكل القبول، لأننا من أجل هذا نتعب ونعير لأننا توكلنا على الإله الحى، الذى هو مخلص كافة الناس، ولا سيما المؤمنين. أوص بهذه وعلّم.

Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. لا يستهن أحد بحداثتك بل كن مثالاً للمؤمنين فى الكلام، فى التصرف، فى المحبة، فى الإيمان، فى الطهارة الى أن آجيىء. إصغ الى القراءة والصلاة والتعليم. لا تتوان فى الموهبة التى فيك، فهذه أعطيتها بالنبوة ويوضع أيدى القسوسية. إدرس هذه المناقب وكن فيها لكى يكون تقدمك ظاهراً لكل أحد. إحتفظ بنفسك وبالتعليم وداوم عليهما. لأنك إن فعلت هذا تخلص نفسك والذين يسمعونك.

Rebuke not an elder, but intreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren; The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.

لا تنتهر شيخاً بل عظة كأب، والأحداث كإخوة، والعجائز كأمهات،والحدثات كأخوات بكل طهارة.

Honour widows that are widows indeed. But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to shew piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God. Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day. But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.

أكرم الأرامل اللواتى هن بالحقيقة أرامل ولكن إن كانت أرملة لها أولاد أو أحفاد فلتعلموا أولاً العبادة فى بيتهم ويكرموا أباءهم الأولين لأن هذا صالح ومقبول أمام الله. لكن التى هى بالحقيقة أرملة وبقيت وحيدة فقد ألقت رجاءها على الله وهى تواظب على الطلبات والصلوات ليلاً ونهاراً وأما المتنعمة فقد ماتت وهى حية.

And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless. But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel. Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man, Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.

وبعد العشاء إذ بأبليس كان قد فرغ مما ألقى فى قلب الذى يسلمه الذى هو يهوذا سمعان الأسخريوطى.فلما رأى يسوع أن الآب قد دفع كل شىء الى يديه وأنه من عند الله خرج والى الله يمضى، قام عن العشاء وخلع ثيابه وأخذ منديلاً وإتزر به ثم صب ماء فى مغسل وإبتدأ يغسل أرجل تلاميذه ويمسحهما بالمنشفة التى كان مؤتزراً بها.فلما جاء الى سمعان بطرس ليغسل رجليه، قال له بطرس: يا سيدى أنت تغسل رجلىّ ؟!. أجاب يسوع وقال له : إن الذى أصنعه أنا لا تعرفه أنت الآن، ولكنك ستعرفه بعد ذلك. قال له بطرس : لن تغسل رجلى أبداً. فأجابه يسوع وقال له : الحق الحق أقول لك لم أغسل قدميك فليس لك معى نصيب. قال له سمعان بطرس: يا سيد ليس رجلى فقط بل يدى ورأسى أيضاً. قال له يسوع : الذى قد إغتسل ليس له حاجة إلا الى غسل رجليه بل هو طاهر كله وانتم طاهرون ولكن ليس كلكم. لأنه عرف مسلمه لذلك قال : لستم كلكم طاهرين.

So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?

Who did not consider it a robbery to be equal to God, His Father, but with Thy good will Thou did come to earth taking the form of a servant becoming man in truth; Thou has become man in the undefiled womb of the Holy Theotokos, Mary; Thou who was clothed in purity and never sinned; Thou gave Thyself up to the holy cross for our salvation.

قدوس قدوس أيها الرب و قدوس أنت فى كل شىء، لأنك أنت الإله القدوس الحقيقى يسوع المسيح الإبن بكر كل الخليقة، الكائن فى مجد عظمته الذى ليس أحد يعرف كمال لاهوته الحال فيه جسدياّ. ليس هو إخطافاّ أن تكون مساوياّ لله أبيك، لكن بإرادتك وحدك أخذت شكل العبد و صرت أنساناّ بالحق. تجسدت فى بطن الغير الدنسه والدة الإله القديسة مريم، أنت االذى إناء الطهارة ولم تخطئ ابداً، ودفعت ذاتك إلى الصليب المقدس من أجل خلاصنا.

And gave us this example, for after supper Thou arose, took a towel and girded Thyself,, and Thou poured water into a basin, and Thou began to wash the disciple’s feet; and Thou has given them the ordinance of love and humility and the remembrance of Thy love for man for Thou said to them: If I, your Lord and Master have washed your feet, then you also ought to wash one another’s feet. As much as I have done it unto you so you ought to do to one another.

وضعت لنا هذا المثال، إذ قمت من العشاء وأخذت منديلاً إشتديت به، وصببت ماء فى مغسل وابتدأت تغسل أرجل تلاميذك وتمسحها بالمنديل الذى كنت متزراً به وأعطيتهم رسم المحبة وترتيب التواضع وتذكار محبتك للبشر إذا قلت لهم: أنا غسلت اقدامكم وانا معلماً ورباً، فيجب عليكم أن يغسل بعضكم اقدام بعض، مثل ما صنعت بكم وكما صنعت بكم إصنعوا انتم ايضاً ببعضكم بعضاً.

Thou hast ordered them to follow Thy Commandments and Thy statutes for Thou hast said: love one another; by this shall all men know you are my disciples because you love one another. Thou also has taught us love and oneness; and Thou has reconciled us with Thy Father by washing the disciples’ feet, through the purity of that example and through Thy love and compassion for man. Thou has crowned our freedom, when Peter exalting Thy Divinity refused this ordinance saying: Thou shall never wash my feet. He heard the true judgment: IF I was thee not, Thou has no part with me, but he cried sincerely saying: Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head, bless all of me. And he also heard Thine Divine Voice which is full of truth; He that is washed need not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit.

وأمرتهم بوصاياك واوامرك إذا قلت احبوا بعضكم بعضاً، وبهذا يعلمكم كل واحد انكم تلاميذى اذا احببتم بعضكم بعضاً، وعلمتنا نحن ايضا المحبة والوحدانية، واصلحتنا مع ابيك من جهة غسل ارجل تلاميذك، ونقاوة هذا المثال الحقيقى ومن قبل تعاطفك ومحبتك للبشر صنعت كمال حريتنا عندما استعظم بطرس لاهوتك وامتنع قائلاً: لا تغسل رجلى إلى الأبد فسمع القضية الحقيقة، إذا لم أغسل قدميك فليس لك معى نصيب، أما هو بامانته صرخ قائلاً: ياسيدى ليس رجلى فقط بل ويدى ايضا ورأسى، قدسنى بالكلية، فسمع ايضا صوتك الألهى الغير كاذب: إن الذى استحم لايحتاج إلا إلى غسل قدميه لكنه كله نقى.

Therefore we ask of Thee our Lord Jesus Christ to make us worthy and present in our midst as Thou was with Thy Holy disciples, the apostles.

من أجل هذا نسأل و نطلب منك يا ربنا يسوع المسيح إجعلنا مستحقين وحل فى وسطنا الأن كما كنت مع تلاميذك الرسل القديسين.

نطلب إليك يا الله الحقيقى لكى ترسل علينا وعلى هذه المياه روحك القدوس الباراقليط جابل المياة، خالق الكل يسوع المسيح ربنا الذى صلب عنا فى عهد بيلاطس البنطى. وإعتراف قائلآ: إنى أنا هو إبن الله.

We believe that Thou art the Son of God in truth. Purify this water by the power of Thy Holy Spirit to annul the deadly power of the adversary against us. Rebuke all evil spirits, all sorcery and all idol worshipping.

نؤمن أنك هو إبن الله بالحقيقة، طهر هذا الماء بقوة روح قدسك لكى يبطل قوات المضاد المقاتل لنا، و ينتهر كل الأرواح النجسة، و كل سحر وكل رقية وكل عبادة الأوثان. فلتهرب من هذا الماء كل قوة المضاد بعلامة صلبيك المقدس ياربنا يسوع المسيح.

O our God Jesus Christ may the power of the adversary flee from this water by the sign of Thy Holy Cross.

The priest dampens a towel with the blessed water and washes the feet of the high priest and dries it with another towel. Then the high priest takes the wet towel and washes the feet of the other priest, the deacons and the congregation. Meanwhile, the deacons chant the "Psalm 150" in the annual tune. The following Psali is chanted after that.

Our God laid aside His garments, took a towel and girded Himself, poured water into a basin and washed the disciples’ feet,

وضع ربنا ثيابه وإشتد بمنديل و صب ماء فى مغسل وغسل أرجل تلاميذة،

then He came to Simon to wash his feet, and Peter said to Him: Thou shall never wash my feet.

فجاء أيضاّ إلى سمعان بطرس ليغسل قدميه، فقال له: لست تغسل لى قدمى إلى الأبد.

Our Savior answered Simon Peter: If I don’t wash your feet, you have no part with me.

فقال مخلصنا لسمعان بطرس: أنا أقول لك أنه إن لم أغسل قدميك فليس لك معى نصيب.

Simon Peter said to Him: Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.

قال سمعان لمخلصنا: يا ربى يسوع المسيح ليس قدمى فقط بل يدى ورأسى.

The Lord taught them saying: I have washed your feet; you also ought to wash one another’s feet.

وكان يعلمهم قائلاّ: أنا غسلت أرجلكم وأنتم أيضاّ يجب أن يغسل بعضكم أرجل بعض.

Intercede for us, O our Father, the apostles, and the seventy two disciples, for the forgiveness of our sins for He is blessed.

أطلبوا من الرب عنا يا سادتى الأباء الرسل والإثنين والسبعين تلميذاّ، ليغفر لنا خطايانا لأنه مبارك.

We give thanks unto You, O Master, Lord God Almighty, upon every condition, for any condition and in whatever condition, for You have made us worthy to complete Your Holy Example of the washing of the feet at this hour. I behold today many believers hastening to partake of the awesome mysteries that they may exceedingly benefit there from. Let me first advise you that you must walk in fear and righteousness as befitting those holy mysteries.

أنى أرى اليوم كثيرين من المِؤمنين مسرعين إلى الشركة فى هذه السرائر المملوءه خوفآ ورعدة، لكى يكون الربح مضاعفآ. فأرشدكم أنا أولآ بقولى، لكى تسيروا بخوف ورهبة ووجل، كما يحق بهذه السرائر المقدسة:

My beloved, in this day our Lord Jesus was betrayed; if you then hear that He was betrayed, be not downcast. Let me tell you about whom you shall be downcasted, bewail and cry over he who gave Him up; I mean Judas. For He who was betrayed, sits on the right hand of the Father in heaven; and He is also King over all, in an everlasting Kingdom. But he who gave Him up, descended into the depths of Hades; there he shall remain unto the end in anticipation of great grief and lament.

أحبائى أسلم السيد المسيح فى مثل هذا اليوم، فإذا سمعتم أنة قد أسلم فلا تعبسوا وجوهكم بل أقول لكم عمن تعبسون، إعبسوا كثيرآ وإبكوا جدآ على الذى سلمه الذى هو يهوذا، لأن الذى أسلم قد جلس عن يمين الله الآب فى السموات، وهو ملك على الكل ملكآ أبديآ لا إنقضاء له، وأما الذى أسلمه فهبط إلى الى قاع الجحيم، ويبقى دائمآ فيه إلى ما لا نهاية له، يتوقع عذابآ أليمآ و تنهدآ شديدآ.

Over him say moan and bewail. For our Lord taught us not to grieve over him who endures suffering, but rather to grieve over the evildoer. It is fit to bewail him who does evil more than he who accepts sufferings. Indeed, he who accepts sufferings is not evil, but rather he who does evil is wicked. For to be in sufferings lead us to the heavenly kingdom. But evil doing leads us to hell and into punishment. For it is said:

على هذا إبكوا ونوحوا، لأن الرب علمنا أن نبكى ونحزن على الخطاة لا على من يتألم لأجل فعل البر، لأن قبول الآلام لأجل نوال الآخرة هو الذى يورثنا ملكوت السموات، وأما الالام التى تنشأ عن الأشياء العالمية هو الفعل الردىء الذى يحدف بنا إلى الجحيم والعذاب الأبدى الذى ناره لا تطفأ ودوده لا يموت.

Blessed are they who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake for there is the kingdom of heaven. But he who does evil, is worthy of punishment and sufferings.
