Ephraim, even as I saw, gave their children for a prey; yea, Ephraim was ready to bring out his children to slaughter. Give them, O Lord: what wilt thou give them? a miscarrying womb, and dry breasts. All their wickedness is in Galgal: for there I hated them: because of the wickedness of their practices, I will cast them out of my house, I will not love them any more: all their princes are disobedient. Ephraim is sick, he is dried up at his roots, he shall in no wise any more bear fruit: wherefore even if they should beget children, I will kill the desired fruit of their womb. God shall reject them, because they have not hearkened to him: and they shall be wanderers among the nations. Israel is a vine with goodly branches, her fruit is abundant: according to the multitude of her fruits she has multiplied her altars; according to the wealth of his land, he has set up pillars. They have divided their hearts; now shall they be utterly destroyed: he shall dig down their altars, their pillars shall mourn.

أعطهم يا رب.وماذا تعطيهم ؟ أعطيهم آباء بلا بنين وأثداء يابسة، لأن جميع شرورهم في الجلجال، لأن في ذلك المكان أبغضتهم من أجل سوء أعمالهم، سأطردهم من بيتي ولا أعود أحبهم، لأن جميع رؤسائهم متمردون. حزن أفرايم الذي أصله قد جف ولا يعود أن يأتي بثمرة. وإن ولدوا فإني اقتل شهوات بطونهم. يرفضهم الله لأنهم لم يسمعوا له، فيكونون تائهين في الأمم. إن إسرائيل كرمة حسنة الأغصان وثمرتها شهية وعلي حسب كثرة ثمره كثر المذابح وعلي حسب خصب أرضه بني الأنصاب، قد قسوا قلوبهم والآن سيهلكون، هو يحطم مذابحهم ويخرب انصابهم.مجداً للثالوث الأقدس.

Reader

Christ paints a sad picture of the conduct and the compartment of the Pharisees. He admonishes them in an unmistakable way for carrying on the same questionable traditions of their predecessors and even surpassed them. Their predecessors slew the prophets and saints. Their successors built the tombs of these prophets. They were the snakes born of serpents. They will not escape their deeds. They will be charged with the blood of those saints; from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zachariah whom they slew between the sanctuary and the alter. All these preceding tribulation will fall on this generation because they all had conspired to kill the Son of God. That is why God scattered them all over the earth, their enemies dominated them their heritage was given to others and their dwellings became desolate.

يا لهذه الأوصاف المحزنة التي قالها المسيح علي الفريسيين، إذ يعطيهم الويل بغير محاباة، لأنهم تشبهوا بآبائهم وكملوا مكاييلهم. أولئك الذين قتلوا الأنبياء القديسين، وهؤلاء الآخرون بنوا مقابرهم، هؤلاء هم الحيات المولودون من الأفاعي الذين لم يهربوا من جهنم، فيستقيم منهم عن دم جميع الأبرار الذي سفك علي وجه الأرض، من دم هابيل إلي دم زكريا الذي قتلوه بين الهيكل والمذبح. كل هذه الضوائق وهذه الشدائد تسبق وتأتي علي هذا الجيل لأنهم جميعهم تشاورا مشورة واحدة علي إبن الله ليقتلوه، لذلك فرقهم الله في الأرض وأعداؤهم تسلطوا عليهم وميراثهم صار لقوم آخرين وصارت منازلهم خراباً.
