Vespers of Palm Sunday

The verses of Cymbals are chanted in the joyful tune and the doxologies in the Shaneen tune. After "Evnouti nai nan", the congregation chants “Lord have mercy” (“Kerieleison”) three times. Meanwhile, they would go in procession, holding a large cross decorated with flowers, three times around the altar, three times around the church, and one last time around the altar.

Blow the trumpet at the new moon, with the sound of the instruments, on your festive day, for it is an order from God.

Ⲁⲣⲓⲥⲁⲗⲡⲓⲍⲓⲛ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲥⲟⲩⲁⲓ: ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲥ̀ⲙⲏ ⲛ̀ⲥⲁⲗⲡⲓⲅⲅⲟⲥ: ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲉ̀ϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲛ̀ⲛⲉⲧⲉⲛϣⲁⲓ: ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲁϩⲥⲁϩⲛⲓ ⲛ̀Ⲑⲉⲟⲥ.

بوقوا فى رأس الشهر بصوت البوق. فى يوم أعيادكم لأنه أمر الله.

+ He who sits upon the Cherubim, sat on a donkey, He came into Jerusalem, what is this great humility.

⁘ Ⲫⲏⲉⲧϩⲉⲙⲥⲓ ϩⲓϫⲉⲛ ⲛⲓⲬⲉⲣⲟⲩⲃⲓⲙ: ⲁϥⲧⲁⲗⲟϥ ⲉ̀ⲟⲩⲉ̀ⲱ̀: ⲁϥϣⲉ ⲉ̀ϧⲟⲩⲛ ⲉ̀Ⲓⲉⲣⲟⲩⲥⲁⲗⲏⲙ: ⲟⲩⲡⲉ ⲡⲁⲓⲛⲓϣϯ ⲛ̀ⲑⲉⲃⲓⲟ.

الجالس على الشاروبيم ركب على أتان ودخل إلى أورشليم ما هذا التواضع العظيم.

As David has said, in the Book of the Psalms, "Blessed is He who comes in the Name, of the Lord of Hosts.

Ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲫ̀ⲣⲏϯ ⲉ̀ⲧⲁϥϫⲟⲥ: ⲛ̀ϫⲉ Ⲇⲁⲩⲓⲇ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲯⲁⲗⲙⲟⲥ: ϫⲉ ϥ̀ⲥ̀ⲙⲁⲣⲱⲟⲩⲧ ⲛ̀ϫⲉ ⲫⲏⲉ̀ⲑⲛⲏⲟⲩ: ϧⲉⲛ ⲫ̀ⲣⲁⲛ ⲙ̀Ⲡ̀ⲟ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ⲛⲓϫⲟⲙ.

كما قال داود فى المزمور مبارك الآتى باسم رب القوات.

+ And again he said, "Out of the mouths of babes, and suckling infants, You have perfected praise.

⁘ Ⲡⲁⲗⲓⲛ ⲟⲛ ⲁϥϫⲱ ⲙ̀ⲙⲟⲥ: ϫⲉ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗϧⲉⲛ ⲣⲱⲟⲩ ⲛ̀ϩⲁⲛⲕⲟⲩϫⲓ: ⲛ̀ⲁ̀ⲗⲱⲟⲩⲓ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲏⲉⲑⲟⲩⲉⲙϭⲓ: ⲛ̀ⲑⲟⲕ ⲁⲕⲥⲉⲃⲧⲉ ⲡⲓⲥ̀ⲙⲟⲩ.

وقال أيضاً أن من أفواه الأطفال والرضعان أعددت سبحاً.

Then David the Spirit Bearer, completed his saying, "Out of the mouths of babes, and suckling infants likewise say.

Ⲧⲟⲧⲉ ⲁϥϫⲱⲕ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ ⲙ̀ⲡⲓⲥⲁϫⲓ: ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ Ⲇⲁⲩⲓⲇ ⲡⲓⲡ̀ⲛⲉⲩⲙⲁⲧⲟⲫⲟⲣⲟⲥ: ϫⲉ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗϧⲉⲛ ⲣⲱⲟⲩ ⲛ̀ϩⲁⲛⲕⲟⲩϫⲓ: ⲛ̀ⲁ̀ⲗⲱⲟⲩⲓ ⲙ̀ⲡⲁⲓⲣⲏϯ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙ̀ⲙⲟⲥ.

حينئذ كمل قول داود الروحى من أفواه الأطفال الصغار هكذا قائلا.

+ They praise Him watchfully, saying "This is Emmanuel, hosanna in the highest, this is the King of Israel."

⁘ Ⲥⲉϩⲱⲥ ⲉ̀ⲣⲟϥ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲛⲉϩⲥⲓ: ⲁⲩϫⲉ ⲫⲁⲓ ⲡⲉ Ⲉⲙⲙⲁⲛⲟⲩⲏⲗ: ⲱⲥⲁⲛⲛⲁ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲏⲉⲧϭⲟⲥⲓ: ⲫⲁⲓ ⲡⲉ ⲡ̀ⲟⲩⲣⲟ ⲙ̀ⲡⲒⲥⲣⲁⲏⲗ.

يسبحونه بيقظة قائلين هذا هو عمانوئيل. أوصنا فى الأعالى هذا هو ملك إسرائيل.

Ascribe to the Lord O sons of God, ascribe to the Lord glory and honor, rejoice in our God, with doxologies of blessing.

Ⲁⲛⲓⲟⲩⲓ̀ ⲙ̀Ⲡ̀ⲟ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛⲓϣⲏⲣⲓ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ Ⲫ̀ⲛⲟⲩϯ: ⲁ̀ⲛⲓⲟⲩⲓ ⲙ̀Ⲡ̀ⲟ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛ̀ⲟⲩⲱ̀ⲟⲩ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩⲧⲁⲓⲟ̀: ⲉ̀ϣⲗⲏⲗⲟⲩⲓ̀ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ ⲙ̀ⲡⲉⲛⲛⲟⲩϯ: ϧⲉⲛ ϩⲁⲛⲇⲟⲝⲟⲗⲟⲅⲓⲁ ⲛ̀ⲥ̀ⲙⲟⲩ.

قدموا للرب أبناء الله قدموا للرب مجداً وكرامة هللوا لالهنا بتماجيد البركة.

+ praise is due to You O God, in Zion and Jerusalem, They send to You prayers, unto the ages.

⁘ Ⲛ̀ⲑⲟⲕ Ⲫ̀ⲛⲟⲩϯ ϥ̀ⲉⲣϣⲁⲩ ⲛⲁⲕ: ⲛ̀ϫⲉ ⲡⲓϫⲱ ϧⲉⲛ Ⲥⲓⲱⲛ: ⲛⲉⲙ Ⲓⲉⲣⲟⲩⲥⲁⲗⲏⲙ ⲉⲩⲉ̀ϯ ⲛⲁⲕ: ⲛ̀ϩⲁⲛⲉⲩⲭⲏ ϣⲁ ⲛⲓⲉ̀ⲱⲛ.

أنت الله يليق بك النشيد فى صهيون وفى أورشليم يقدمون لك النذور إلى الدهور.

Hosanna in the highest, this is the King of Israel, blessed is He who comes in the Name, of the Lord of Hosts.

Ⲱ̀ⲥⲁⲛⲛⲁ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲏⲉ̀ⲧϭⲟⲥⲓ: ⲫⲁⲓ ⲡⲉ ⲡ̀ⲟⲩⲣⲟ ⲙ̀ⲡⲒⲥⲣⲁⲏⲗ: ϥ̀ⲥ̀ⲙⲁⲣⲱⲟⲩⲧ ⲛ̀ϫⲉ ⲫⲏⲉ̀ⲑⲛⲏⲟⲩ: ϧⲉⲛ ⲫ̀ⲣⲁⲛ ⲙ̀Ⲡ̀ⲟ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ⲛⲓϫⲟⲙ.

أوصنا فى الأعالي هذا هو ملك إسرائيل. مبارك الآتي باسم رب القوات.

+ We praise and glorify Him, and exalt Him above all, as a Good One and Lover of Man, have mercy upon us according to Your great mercy.

⁘ Ⲧⲉⲛϩⲱⲥ ⲉ̀ⲣⲟϥ ⲧⲉⲛϯⲱ̀ⲟⲩ ⲛⲁϥ: ⲧⲉⲛⲉⲣϩⲟⲩⲟ̀ ϭⲓⲥⲓ ⲙ̀ⲙⲟϥ: ϩⲱⲥ ⲁ̀ⲅⲁⲑⲟⲥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲙ̀ⲙⲁⲓⲣⲱⲙⲓ: ⲛⲁⲓ ⲛⲁⲛ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲡⲉⲕⲛⲓϣϯ ⲛ̀ⲛⲁⲓ.

نسبحه ونمجده ونزيده رفعة كصالح ومحب البشر إرحمنا كعظيم رحمتك.

This doxology can be chanted during the Vespers or the Matins of Palm Sunday

For David the hymnist, the king of Israel, Spoke of the honor of this great feast, in this manner saying.

Ⲇⲁⲩⲓⲇ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲡⲓϩⲩⲙⲛⲟⲇⲟⲥ: ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲡ̀ⲟⲩⲣⲟ ⲙ̀Ⲡⲓⲥⲣⲁⲏⲗ: ⲁϥϫⲱ ⲙ̀ⲡ̀ⲧⲁⲓⲟ ⲙ̀ⲡⲁⲓⲛⲓϣϯ ⲛ̀ϣⲁⲓ: ⲙ̀ⲡⲁⲓⲣⲏϯ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙ̀ⲙⲟⲥ.

لأن داود المرتل وملك اسرائيل نطق بكرامة هذا العيد العظيم هكذا قائلاً.

Out of the mouths of babes, and nursing infants, Thou hast perfected praise, according to Thy will, O Lord.

Ϫⲉ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗϧⲉⲛ ⲣⲱⲟⲩ ⲛ̀ϩⲁⲛⲕⲟⲩϫⲓ: ⲛ̀ⲁⲗⲱⲟⲩⲓ̀ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲏⲉⲑⲟⲩⲉⲙϭⲓ: ⲛ̀ⲑⲟⲕ ⲁⲕⲥⲉⲃⲧⲉ ⲡⲓⲥ̀ⲙⲟⲩ: ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲡⲉⲧⲉϩⲛⲁⲕ Ⲡ̀ⲟ̅ⲥ̅.

ان من افواه الاطفال والرضعان انت اعددت سبحاً كإرادتك يا رب.

It is also written: Do not fear O daughter of Zion, behold your King is coming, riding on a colt.

Ⲥ̀ⲥ̀ϧⲏⲟⲩⲧ ⲟⲛ ⲙ̀ⲡⲉⲣⲉⲣϩⲟϯ: ⲱ̀ ⲧ̀ϣⲉⲣⲓ ⲛ̀Ⲥⲓⲱⲛ: ϩⲏⲡⲡⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲡⲉⲟⲩⲣⲟ ⲉϥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⲛⲉ: ⲉϥⲧⲁⲗⲏⲟⲩⲧ ⲉ̀ϫⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲥⲏϫ.

ومكتوب ايضاً لا تخافي يا ابنة صهيون. هوذا ملكك ياتيك راكباً على جحش.

Oh what this great humility, which was done by our Savior, when He entered Jerusalem, riding on a donkey.

Ⲟⲩ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲁⲓⲛⲓϣϯ ⲛ̀ⲑⲉⲃⲓⲟ: ⲫⲏⲉⲧⲁϥⲁⲓϥ ⲛ̀ϫⲉ Ⲡⲉⲛⲥⲱⲧⲏⲣ: ⲉⲧⲁϥϣⲉ ⲉ̀ϧⲟⲩⲛ ⲉ̀Ⲓⲉⲣⲟⲩⲥⲁⲗⲏⲙ: ⲉⲧⲁϥⲁ̀ⲗⲏⲓ ⲉ̀ⲟⲩⲉ̀ⲱ̀.

يا لهذا التواضع العظيم الذي صنعه مخلصنا لما دخل الى اورشليم راكباً على أتان.

For today these prophecies, have been completed, some took palm branches, and branches of olives.

Ⲙ̀ⲫⲟⲟⲩ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲁⲩϫⲱⲕ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ: ⲛ̀ϫⲉ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲡ̀ⲣⲟⲫⲏⲧⲓⲁ̀: ϩⲁⲛⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲁⲩϭⲓ ⲛ̀ϩⲁⲛⲃⲁⲓ: ⲛⲉⲙ ϩⲁⲛⲕⲗⲁⲇⲟⲥ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ϩⲁⲛϫⲱⲓⲧ.

اليوم كملت هذه النبوات. البعض اخذوا سعوف النخل واغصان الزيتون.

Others spread their garments, upon the road before Him, the children proclaimed saying: Hosanna to the Son of David.

Ϩⲁⲛⲕⲉⲭⲱⲟⲩⲛⲓ ⲁⲩⲫⲱⲣϣ ⲛ̀ⲛⲟⲩϩ̀ⲃⲱⲥ: ϩⲓ ⲡⲓⲙⲱⲓⲧ ⲙ̀ⲡⲉϥⲙ̀ⲑⲟ: ⲛⲓⲁⲗⲱⲟⲩⲓ̀ ⲁⲩⲱϣ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ: ϫⲉ ⲱ̀ⲥⲁⲛⲛⲁ ⲡ̀ϣⲏⲣⲓ ⲛ̀Ⲇⲁⲩⲓⲇ.

واخرون فرشوا ثيابهم في الطريق امامه. والاطفال صرخوا قائلين اوصنا لابن داود.

At the end, the congregation says "We glorify you, O Mother of True Light" and the creed.

When the congregation finishes the hymns of “Kerieleison” chanted during the procession, they continue with the hymn of the Shaneen saying

Ascend to the high mountains O Anunciator of Zion. Raise your voice with strength and preach to Jerusalem.

إصعد على الجبال العالية يا مبشر صهيون. إرفع صوتك بقوة وبشر أورشليم.

Tell the cities of Judas “Here is your King coming carrying His pay. Like a shepherd who shepherds his flock and with his hands gathers the lambs.

Ⲁϫⲟⲥ ⲛ̀ⲛⲓⲃⲁⲕⲓ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ Ⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁ : ϫⲉ ⲓⲥ ⲡⲉⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩⲣⲟ ⲉϥⲛⲏⲟⲩ : ⲉ̀ⲣⲉ ⲡⲉϥⲃⲉⲭⲉ ⲛⲉⲙⲁϥ : ⲉ̀ⲣⲉ ⲡⲓϩⲱⲃ ⲙ̀ⲡⲉϥⲙ̀ⲑⲟ.

وقل لمدن يهوذا "هوذا ملكك يأتيك وأجرته معه. مثل الراعي الذى يرعي قطيع غنمه وبذراعه العالية يجمع الحملان.

Arise and decorate your gates for the Son of the God is coming. And with purity and peace He will save you.” Here are all your children coming to Him rejoicing while crying and saying:” Hosanna to the Son of David.

قومى زيّنى ابوابك. لانه سيأتي ابن الله. وهو الذي بالطهارة والسلامة ينجيك. هوذا كل بنيك، يقبلون اليه بفرح، ويصرخون قائلين: أوصنا لابن داود.

“Now when they drew near to Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples, saying to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Loose them and bring them to Me. And if anyone says anything to you, you shall say, The Lord has need of them, and immediately he will send them.” All this was done that it might be fulfilled Which was spoken by the prophet, saying: Tell the daughter of Zion, Behold, your King is coming to you, lowly, and sitting on a donkey, a colt, the foal of a donkey.

ولما قرب من بيت فاجي عند جبل الزيتون أرسل يسوع اثنين من تلاميذه. وقال: "إمضيا إلى هذه القرية التي امامكما، فتجدان أتاناً وجحشاَ ابن أتان. فحلاهما وأتياني بهما. فان قال لكما أحد شيئاَ فقولا له ان الرب يحتاج جاء التلميذان اليهما". فلما كما أمر هما وجدا الأتان والجحش مربوطين، فحلاهما وأتيا بهما اليه كي يكمل ما قاله الرب من قبل النبى: قولو لإبنة صهيون هوذا ملكك يأتيك راكباً علي أتان وجحش ابن أتان.

“How great is this wonder! He who sits on the Cherubim rode on a colt as planned. He sits on the earth and never left the heavens. He sits in the Bosom of His Father and is present in Jerusalem.

فيالعِظَم هذه الاعجوبة: الجالس علي الشاروبيم ركب علي جحش ابن أتان كالتدبير. هو جالس علي الارض، ولم يترك عنه السموات! جالس فى حضن أبيه وحاضر فى أورشليم!

The sons of the Hebrews spread their garments in His way. And the Cherubim were covering their faces with their wings. They were worthily glorifying with unceasing lips saying: “Blessed is the Glory of Lord in Salmon, the mount of his Holiness.” They were praising and saying: “ Hosanna to the Son of David.” Blessed is the Lord Jesus Christ who came to save us.

اولاد العبرانيين فرشوا ثيابهم قدامُه، والشاروبيم معاً يسترون وجوههم بأجنحتهم. وكانوا يمجدون باستحقاق بشفاة غير ساكتة ويقولون: تبارك مجد الرب في سلمون جبل قدسه. وكان هؤلاء يسبحون ويقولون: أوصنا لابن داود. مبارك الرب يسوع المسيح الذي أتي ليخلصنا.

Then the reader continues

Then, as He was now drawing near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen, saying: “Hosanna to the Son of David: Hosanna in the Highest, This is the King of Israel.”

لما قرب يسوع من منحدر جبل الزيتون صاعداً إلي أورشليم، ابتدأ كل جمع التلاميذ يفرحون ويسبحون الله بصوت عظيم، من اجل القوات التي رأوها، صارخين قائلين: اوصنا لابن داود. اوصنا في الاعالي. هذا هو ملك اسرائيل."

The next day, when the great multitude that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, and cried out: “Hosanna to the Son of David.” And a very great multitude spread their garments on the road; others cut down branches from the trees and spread them on the road. Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: “Hosanna to the Son of David.”

وفي الغد لما سمع الجمع الكثير الذي جاء للعيد أن يسوع سيأتي إلى أورشليم، أخذوا سعفاً بأيديهم وخرجوا للقائة يصرخون قائلين: أوصنا لابن داود. والجمع الكثير الذي من العبرانيين خرجوا قدامة وفرشوا ثيابهم في الطريق التي سيسلكها المخلص. وآخرون منهم قطعوا أغصاناً من الشجر، وجاؤا بها بفرح وفرشوها في الطريق. والذين كانوا يسيرون أمامه والذين خلفه كانوا يصرخون قائلين: أوصنا لابن داود.

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Behold, your King is coming to you, lowly, and sitting on a donkey, a colt, the foal of a donkey. ”Then the multitudes went before and cried out, saying: Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He who comes in the Name of the LORD!

افرحي يا ابنة صهيون فانة قد جاء ملكك بمجد وكرامة بهاء عظيم، راكباً علي جحش. والجمع يمشي امامه صارخين قائلين: أوصنا لابن داود. مبارك الملك الآتي باسم الرب.

“Hosanna in the Highest, this is the King of Israel. There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots. The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD.

اوصنا في الاعالي. هذا هو ملك اسرائيل. يزهر قضيب من اصل يسى، وتصعد زهرة وتطلع من وسطه، ويستقر عليه روح الله، روح الحكمة، وروح القوة، روح الفهم والمشورة وروح العبادة. ويملأه الروح من مخافة الله.

O what a great wonder. He who sits on the Cherubim, and whom the Seraphim praise, and cover their faces for His Divinity, rode a colt, as arranged, for our salvation.

يالهذه الاعجوبة العظيمة: الجالس علي الشاروبيم، والسيرافيم تسبحه، ويغطون وجوههم من أجل لاهوته، تفضل اليوم وركب علي جحش أتان كالتدبير من أجل خلاصنا.

They bless You in the heavens and they glorify you on the earth and they shout saying: “Hosanna in the Highest, This is the King of Israel. Blessed is He who comes in the Name of the Lord of Hosts.”

يباركونك في السموات، ويمجدونك علي الأرض ويصرخون قائلين: أوصنا لابن داود. أوصنا في الأعالي. هذا هو ملك اسرائيل. مبارك الآتي باسم رب القوات.

And to Him is the ever lasting glory.

ولعظمتة المجد دائماً. آمين.

The priest stands in front of the sanctuary facing the east while holding the censer, asks the deacon to tell the congregation to start the prayer and says

Pray.

The priest kisses the cross, hands it to the deacon or puts it on the altar and says

O Master, Lord, Jesus Christ our God, Who said to His saintly, honoured Disciples and holy Apostoles:

Ⲫ̀ⲛⲏⲃ Ⲡ̀ⲟ̅ⲥ̅ Ⲓⲏⲥⲟⲩⲥ Ⲡⲓⲭ̀ⲣⲓⲥⲧⲟⲥ Ⲡⲉⲛⲛⲟⲩϯ: ⲫⲏⲉ̀ⲧⲁϥϫⲟⲥ ⲁⲅⲓⲟⲥ ⲉⲧⲧⲁⲓⲏⲟⲩⲧ ⲙ̀ⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ: ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛ̀ⲁ̀ⲡⲟⲥⲧⲟⲗⲟⲥ ⲉ̀ⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ.

أيها السيد الرب يسوع المسيح إلهنا الذى قال لتلاميذه القديسين المكرمين ورسله الأطهار:

“Many profets and righteous men have desired to see the things which you see, and have not seen them, and to hear the things which you hear, and have not heard them.

Ϫⲉ ϩⲁⲛⲙⲏϣ ⲙ̀ⲡ̀ⲣⲟⲫⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲛⲉⲙ ϩⲁⲛⲑ̀ⲙⲏⲓ: ⲁⲩⲉⲣⲉ̀ⲡⲓⲑⲩⲙⲓⲛ ⲉ̀ⲛⲁⲩ ⲉ̀ⲛⲏⲉ̀ⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲥⲱⲧⲉⲙ ⲉ̀ⲣⲱⲟⲩ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲙ̀ⲡⲟⲩⲥⲱⲧⲉⲙ.

إن أنبياء وأبرارا كثيرين اشتهوا أن يروا ما أنتم ترون ولم يروا وأن يسمعون ما أنتم تسمعون ولم يسمعوا.

But blessed are your eyes for they see, and your ears for they hear.”

أما أنتم فطوبى لأعينكم لأنها تبصر ولآذانكم لأنها تسمع.

May we be worth to hear and to act [according to] Thine Holy Gospels, through the prayers of Thy saits.

أذكر أيضا يا سيدنا كل الذين أمرونا أن نذكرهم فى تضرعاتنا وطلباتنا التى نرفعها إليك أيها الرب إلهنا.

Those who have already fallen asleep, repose them. Those who are sick heal them.

Ⲛⲏⲉ̀ⲧⲁⲩⲉⲣϣⲟⲣⲡ ⲛ̀ⲉ̀ⲛⲕⲟⲧ ⲙⲁⲙ̀ⲧⲟⲛ ⲛⲱⲟⲩ: ⲛⲏⲉⲧϣⲱⲛⲓ ⲙⲁⲧⲁⲗϭⲱⲟⲩ.

الذين سبقوا فرقدوا نيحهم، المرضى اشفهم.

For Thou art the life of us all, the salvation of us all, the hope of us all, the healing of us all and resurrection of us all.

And Thou art He to whom we ascribe the glory, the honour, and the worship, together with Thy Good Father and the Holy Spirit, the Life-Giver, Who is of One Essence with Thee.

Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead. There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.

وأن يسوع قبل الفصح بستة أيام جاء إلى بيت عنيا حيث كان لعازر المبت. الذى أقامه يسوع من الأموات. فصنعوا له وليمة فى ذلك الموضع. وكانت مرثا تخدم. وأما لعازر فكان أحد المتكئين معه.

Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.

Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him, Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor? This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.

فقال واحد من تلاميذه الذى هو يهوذا سمعان الأسخريوطى الذى كان مزمعا أن يسلمه لماذا لم يبع هذا الطيب بثلثمائة دينار ويعطى للمساكين. وهذا قاله ليس عناية منه بالمساكين. بل لأنه كان سارقا وكان الصندوق عنده وكان يحمل ما يلقى فيه.

Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this. For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.

Ⲡⲉϫⲉ Ⲓⲏⲥⲟⲩⲥ ⲟⲩⲛ ϫⲉ ⲭⲁⲥ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⲛⲧⲉⲥ ⲁⲣⲉϩⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲉⲡⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲙⲡⲁⲕⲱⲥ Ⲛⲓϩⲏⲕⲓ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲥⲉⲛⲉⲙⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲛⲥⲏⲟⲩ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲇⲉ ϯⲛⲉⲙⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲁⲛ ⲛⲥⲏⲟⲩ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ.

فقال يسوع دعوها أنما حفظته ليوم دفنى. لأن المساكين معكم كل حين وأما أنا فلست معكم كل حين.

Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.

Ⲁⲩⲉⲙⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲛϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲙⲏϣ ⲉϥⲟϣ ⲛⲧⲉ ⲛⲓⲒⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ϫⲉ ϥⲭⲏ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ :ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁⲩⲓ ⲉⲑⲃⲉ Ⲓⲏⲥⲟⲩⲥ ⲙⲙⲁⲩⲁⲧϥ ⲁⲛ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲉⲑⲃⲉ ⲡⲕⲉⲖⲁⲍⲁⲣⲟⲥ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⲛⲧⲟⲩⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲉⲫⲏⲉⲧⲁ Ⲓⲏⲥⲟⲩⲥ ⲧⲟⲩⲛⲟⲥϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲏⲉⲑⲙⲱⲟⲩⲧ.

وعلم جمع كثير من اليهود أنه هناك فجاؤا ليس من أجل يسوع وحده بل لينظروا أيضاً لعازر الذى أقامه يسوع من بين الأموات.

But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death; Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.

فتشاور رؤساء الكهنة أن يقتلوا لعازر أيضاً. لأن كثيرين من اليهود كانوا من أجله يمضون ويؤمنون بيسوع. والمجد لله.

السلام للعازر الذى أقامه بعد أربعة أيام أقم قلبى ياربى يسوع لقد قتلت الشر.

Then the priest prays the short litanies and the absolutions. Then everyone proceeds to the Shaneen icon, light up the candles and chants the Shaneen hymn (Evlogimenos) followed by "Rejoice O Zion". The service is concluded by the blessing and the priest dismisses the congregation.

Rejoice and be glad O city of Zion. Rejoice and be glad for behold your King shall come riding upon a colt. The children offer praise before Him saying, "Hosanna in the highest, this is the King of Israel."

أفرحي وتهللى يا صهيون المدينة اجذلى وتهللى لأن هوذا ملكك يأتي راكباً على جحش وتسبح قدامه الأطفال قائلين أوصنا فى الأعالي هذا هو ملك إسرائيل.

When our Lord Jesus Christ came to the city of Jerusalem to fulfill the books of the chosen prophets, the children held palm branches saying, "Hosanna in the highest, this is the King of Israel."

فلما جاء ربنا يسوع المسيح إلى مدينة أورشليم لكمال كتب الأنبياء المختارين حمل الأطفال سعفاً قائلين أوصنا فى الأعالى هذا هو ملك إسرائيل.

Some spread their garments on the way before Him, that Jesus of Nazareth may walk upon them, and the children were proclaiming and saying, "Hosanna in the highest, this is the King of Israel."

والبعض فرشوا ثيابهم على الطريق أمامه لكى يسير عليها يسوع الناصرى والصغار يصرخون قائلين أوصنا فى الأعالى هذا هو ملك إسرائيل.

Therefore, today the great prophesy is fulfilled, "Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have perfected praise," and the children were proclaiming and saying, "Hosanna in the highest, this is the King of Israel."

حينئذ كملت اليوم النبوة العظيمة من أفواه الأطفال الصغار أعددت سبحاً والأطفال يصرخون قائلين أوصنا فى الأعالى هذا هو ملك إسرائيل.

Therefore, David said in the book of the Psalms, "Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord God," and the children were proclaiming and saying, "Hosanna in the highest, this is the King of Israel."

حينئذ قال داود فى كتاب المزامير مبارك الآتى بأسم الرب الإله والأطفال تسبحه قائلين أوصنا فى الأعالى هذا هو ملك إسرائيل.

When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the entire city was moved because of the multitudes who surrounded Him, and the children were proclaiming and saying, "Hosanna in the highest, this is the King of Israel."

لما دخل يسوع إلى أورشليم أرتجت المدينة كلها من أجل الجموع المحيطين به والأطفال يصيحون أوصنا فى الأعالى هذا هو ملك إسرائيل.

Therefore, the opposing Jews were filled with great envy and said to the Lord Jesus, "Let them stop this proclamation," and the children were proclaiming and saying, "Hosanna in the highest, this is the King of Israel."

Ⲧⲟⲧⲉ ⲛⲓⲒⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ⲛⲁⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ: ⲁⲩⲙⲟϩ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟ̀ⲩⲛⲓϣϯ ⲛ̀ⲭⲟϩ: ⲡⲉ ϫⲱⲟ̀ⲩ ⲙ̀ⲡⲉⲛⲟ̅ⲥ̅ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅: ϫⲉ ⲙⲁⲣⲟⲩⲭⲁⲣⲱⲟ̀ⲩ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲁⲓⲱ̀ϣ: ⲛ̀ϫⲉ ⲛⲓⲕⲟⲩϫⲓ ⲛⲓⲁ̀ⲗⲱⲟ̀ⲩⲓ̀: ϫⲉ ⲱ̀ⲥⲁⲛⲛⲁ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲏⲉ̀ⲧϭⲟⲥⲓ: ⲫⲁⲓ ⲡⲉ ⲡ̀Ⲟ̀ⲩⲣⲟ ⲙ̀ⲡⲒⲥⲣⲁⲏ̀ⲗ.

حينئذ اليهود المخالفين أمتلأوا غيرة عظيمة وقالوا للرب يسوع فليسكت هؤلاء من هذا الصياح والأطفال الصغار قائلين أوصنا فى الأعالى هذا هو ملك إسرائيل.

And Jesus said to the Jews, "If these children should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out and praise Me saying, 'Hosanna in the highest, this is the King of Israel.'"

Ⲡⲉϫⲉ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛ̀ⲛⲏⲒⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ϫⲉ ⲉϣⲱⲡ ⲁⲩϣⲁⲛ ⲭⲁⲣⲱⲟ̀ⲩ: ⲛ̀ϫⲉ ⲛⲓⲕⲟⲩϫⲓ ⲛⲓⲁ̀ⲗⲱⲟ̀ⲩⲓ̀: ϣⲁⲩⲱ̀ϣ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ ⲛ̀ϫⲉ ⲛⲓⲱ̀ⲛⲓ: ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛ̀ⲧⲟⲩϩⲱⲥ ⲉ̀ⲣⲟⲓ: ϫⲉ ⲱ̀ⲥⲁⲛⲛⲁ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲏⲉ̀ⲧϭⲟⲥⲓ: ⲫⲁⲓ ⲡⲉ ⲡ̀Ⲟ̀ⲩⲣⲟ ⲙ̀ⲡⲒⲥⲣⲁⲏ̀ⲗ.

فقال يسوع لليهود إذا سكت هؤلاء الصغار لصرخت الحجارة وسبحتنى قائلة أوصنا فى الأعالى هذا هو ملك إسرائيل.
