Another Prayer of Reconciliation according to St. John (to the Father)

The priest stands in front of the altar facing the east, asks the deacon to tell the congregation to start the prayer and says

Pray.

Ϣ̀ⲗⲏⲗ.

صل.

Deacon

Stand up for prayer.

Ⲉⲡⲓ ⲡ̀ⲣⲟⲥⲉⲩⲭⲏ ⲥ̀ⲧⲁⲑⲏⲧⲉ.

للصلاة قفوا.

The priest looks towards the congregation and says

Peace be with all.

Ⲓⲣⲏⲛⲏ ⲡⲁⲥⲓ.

السلام للكل.

Congregation

And with your spirit.

Ⲕⲉ ⲧⲱ ⲡ̀ⲛⲉⲩⲙⲁ ⲧⲓ ⲥⲟⲩ.

ولروحك أيضا.

Priest

O God of love and Giver of oneness of heart, who grants the true oneness of mind towards virtue.

Ⲫϯ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ϯⲁ̀ⲅⲁⲡⲏ: ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲫ̀ⲣⲉϥϯ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ϯⲙⲉⲧϩⲏⲧ ⲛ̀ⲟⲩⲱⲧ: ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲫ̀ⲣⲉϥⲥⲁϩⲛⲓ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ϯⲅ̀ⲛⲱⲙⲏ ⲛ̀ⲟⲩⲱⲧ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ϯⲁ̀ⲣⲉⲧⲏ.

يا إله المحبة ومعطى وحدانية القلب. ورازق الرأى الواحد الذى للفضيلة.

Who has also granted unto us the new commandment, through Thine Only Begotten Son.

Ⲫⲏⲉ̀ⲧⲁϥⲉⲣϩ̀ⲙⲟⲧ ⲛⲁⲛ ⲛ̀ϯⲉⲛⲧⲟⲗⲏ ⲙ̀ⲃⲉⲣⲓ: ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⲡⲉⲕⲙⲟⲛⲟⲅⲉⲛⲏⲥ ⲛ̀Ϣⲏⲣⲓ.

الذى أنعم لنا بالوصية الجديدة بإبنك الوحيد.

That we love one another as Thou hast loved us we the unworthy and astray.

Ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉⲛⲙⲉⲛⲣⲉ ⲛⲉⲛⲉ̀ⲣⲏⲟⲩ: ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲫ̀ⲣⲏϯ ⲛ̀ⲑⲟⲕ ⲉ̀ⲧⲁⲕⲙⲉⲛⲣⲓⲧⲉⲛ: ⲁ̀ⲛⲟⲛ ϧⲁ ⲛⲓⲁⲧⲙ̀ⲡ̀ϣⲁ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲧⲥⲱⲣⲉⲙ.

لكى نحب بعضنا بعضاً كما أحببتنا أنت. نحن غير المستحقين الضالين.

And Thou gavest up Thy beloved Son for our life and our salvation.

Ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁⲕϯ ⲙ̀ⲡⲉⲕⲙⲉⲛⲣⲓⲧ ⲛ̀Ϣⲏⲣⲓ ⲉ̀ϩ̀ⲣⲏⲓ ⲉ̀ϫⲉⲛ ⲡⲉⲛⲱⲛϧ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲡⲉⲛⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ.

وبذلت إبنك الحبيب عن حياتنا وخلاصنا.

We ask Thee, O our Lord, grant us, Thy servants, throughout our lifetime on earth, and more especially at present.

Ⲧⲉⲛϯϩⲟ ⲉ̀ⲣⲟⲕ ⲡⲉⲛⲛⲏⲃ: ⲁ̀ⲣⲓϩ̀ⲙⲟⲧ ⲛⲁⲛ ϧⲁ ⲛⲉⲕⲉ̀ⲃⲓⲁⲓⲕ: ⲛ̀ⲥⲏⲟⲩ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ⲡⲉⲛⲱⲛϧ ⲉⲧ ϩⲓϫⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲕⲁϩⲓ ⲛ̀ϩⲟⲩⲟ̀ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲁⲗⲗⲟⲛ ϯⲛⲟⲩ.

نسألك يا سيدنا أنعم لنا نحن عبيدك فى كل زمان حياتنا التى على الأرض. ولا سيما بالأكثر الآن.

Thoughts that do not recall to memory of former evil deeds and a conscience without hypocrisy, but grant us faithful thoughts and a heart full of brotherly love.

Ⲛ̀ⲟⲩⲗⲟⲅⲓⲥⲙⲟⲥ ⲉϥⲓ̀ⲣⲓ ⲁⲛ ⲙ̀ⲫ̀ⲙⲉⲩⲓ̀ ⲛ̀ⲛⲓⲙⲉⲧⲡⲉⲧϩⲱⲟⲩ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ϣⲟⲣⲡ: ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩⲥⲩⲛⲓⲇⲏⲥⲓⲥ ⲛ̀ⲁⲧⲙⲉⲧϣⲟⲃⲓ: ϩⲁⲛⲙⲉⲩⲓ̀ ⲉⲩⲉⲛϩⲟⲧ: ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩϩⲏⲧ ⲙ̀ⲙⲁⲓⲥⲟⲛ.

بحاسة غير ذاكرة الشرور الأولى. ونية بغير رياء. وأفكار صادقة. وقلب محب للأخوة.

So we may flee from any likeness to Judas the traitor as we give one another a spiritual kiss.

لكى إذ نعطى قبلة روحية نهرب من شبه يهوذا الدافع.

Lord have mercy.

Priest

And as we agree together in purity like Thine Holy disciples and apostles we become cleansed and sanctified through Thine Holy Spirit.

وكمثل تلاميذك القديسين والرسل إذ صالحنا بعضُنا بعضاً. بالطهارة نتطهَّر ونتقدَّس من قبل وساطة روحك القدُّوس.

By the grace, compassion and love of mankind, of Thine Only-Begotten Son, our Lord, God and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓϩ̀ⲙⲟⲧ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓⲙⲉⲧϣⲉⲛϩⲏⲧ ⲛⲉⲙ ϯⲙⲉⲧⲙⲁⲓⲣⲱⲙⲓ: ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ⲡⲉⲕⲙⲟⲛⲟⲅⲉⲛⲏⲥ ⲛ̀Ϣⲏⲣⲓ: Ⲡⲉⲛⲟ̅ⲥ̅ ⲟⲩⲟϩ Ⲡⲉⲛⲛⲟⲩϯ: ⲟⲩⲟϩ Ⲡⲉⲛⲥⲱⲧⲏⲣ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅.

بالنعمة والرأفات ومحبة البشر اللواتى لابنك الوحيد الجنس ربنا وإلهنا ومخلصنا يسوع المسيح.

Through Whom the glory, the honour, the dominion, and the adoration are due to Thee, with Him, and the Holy Spirit, the Life-Giver, Who is of One Essence with Thee.

قبلوا بعضكم بعضاً بقبلة مقدسة.

After any of the previous Prayers of Reconciliation, the congregation says

Emmanuel our God, is now in our midst, with the glory of His Father, and the Holy Spirit.

Ⲉⲙⲙⲁⲛⲟⲩⲏⲗ Ⲡⲉⲛⲛⲟⲩϯ: ϧⲉⲛ ⲧⲉⲛⲙⲏϯ ϯⲛⲟⲩ: ϧⲉⲛ ⲡ̀ⲱ̀ⲟⲩ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ⲡⲉϥⲓⲱⲧ: ⲛⲉⲙ Ⲡⲓⲡ̀ⲛⲉⲩⲙⲁ ⲉ̀ⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ.

May He bless us all, and purify our hearts, and heal the sicknesses of our souls and bodies.

We worship Thee, O Christ, with Thy good Father and the Holy Spirit, for Thou hast come and saved us.

The priest and the deacon remove the prospherin from over the paten and chalice. The deacon holds the cross and says

Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy. Yes, Lord, Who is Jesus Christ the Son of God, hear us and have mercy on us.

The priest takes the corporal that is on the chalice in his left hand and the one on the paten in his right hand. The priest holds the corporal throughout the rest of the service except when holding the bread and the grape wine.
