Liturgy of Saint Gregory

The priest starts with the Prayer of Preparation followed by the Procession of the Lamb and up to the end of the reading of the Gospel shown in the Liturgy of Saint Basil. Then the priest says the Absolution of the Father followed by the Absolution of the Servants as shown on page 72.

Prayer of the Veil to the Father

The priest stands at the entrance of the sanctuary, looks towards the east, bow his head and says inaudibly

O Lord God, the Pantocrator, Who knows the thoughts of mankind, and Who searches the hearts and kidneys.

Ⲡ̀ⲟ̅ⲥ̅ Ⲫϯ ⲡⲓⲡⲁⲛⲧⲟⲕⲣⲁⲧⲱⲣ: ⲫⲏⲉⲧⲥⲱⲟⲩⲛ ⲙ̀ⲫ̀ⲙⲉⲩⲓ̀ ⲛ̀ⲛⲓⲣⲱⲙⲓ: ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲫⲏⲉⲧϧⲟⲧϧⲉⲧ ⲛ̀ⲛⲓϩⲏⲧ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓϭ̀ⲗⲱⲧ.

أيها الرب الإله ضابط الكل. العارف أفكار كل البشر والفاحص القلوب والكلى.

And me, while I was unworthy, Thou hast called me to this holy service of Thee.

Ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁ̀ⲛⲟⲕ ⲉⲓⲟⲓ ⲛ̀ⲁⲧⲉⲙⲡ̀ϣⲁ ⲁⲕⲑⲁϩⲙⲉⲧ ⲉ̀ⲡⲁⲓϣⲉⲙϣⲓ ⲉ̀ⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ ⲛ̀ⲧⲁⲕ ⲫⲁⲓ.

وإذ أنا غير مستحق دعوتنى إلى خدمتك المقدسة هذه.

Do not reject me and do not turn Thy face from me, but rather blot out all my transgressions, and cleanse the blemish of my body and the defilement of my soul, and purify me in entirety.

Ⲙⲡⲉⲣϭⲓⲃⲟϯ ⲙ̀ⲙⲟⲓ: ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⲙ̀ⲡⲉⲣⲫⲱⲛϩ ⲙ̀ⲡⲉⲕϩⲟ ⲥⲁⲃⲟⲗ ⲙ̀ⲙⲟⲓ: ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲥⲱⲗϫ ⲛ̀ⲛⲁⲡⲁⲣⲁⲡ̀ⲧⲱⲙⲁ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ: ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲓⲱⲓ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ ⲙ̀ⲡ̀ⲁϭⲛⲓ ⲙ̀ⲡⲁⲥⲱⲙⲁ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲡ̀ⲑⲱⲗⲉⲃ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ⲧⲁⲯⲩⲭⲏ: ⲟⲩⲟ ⲙⲁⲧⲟⲩⲃⲟⲓ ⲉⲓϫⲏⲕ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ.

لا ترذلنى ولا تصرف وجهك عنى. بل امح جميع سيئاتى. واغسل عيب جسدى ودنس نفسى وطهرنى كاملاً.

So that while I am beseeching Thy Goodness to grant the forgiveness of the sins of others, I myself do not become rejected.

Ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⲙⲏⲡⲱⲥ ⲉⲓⲧⲱⲃϩ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉⲕⲙⲉⲧⲁ̀ⲅⲁⲑⲟⲥ: ⲉⲑⲣⲉⲕϯ ⲛ̀ⲟⲩⲭⲱ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ϩⲁⲛⲛⲟⲃⲓ ⲛ̀ϩⲁⲛⲕⲉⲭⲱⲟⲩⲛⲓ: ⲛ̀ⲧⲁϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲁ̀ⲛⲟⲕ ⲉⲓⲟⲓ ⲛ̀ⲁ̀ⲇⲟⲕⲓⲙⲟⲥ.

لكى لا وأنا أطلب من صلاحك أن تعطى غفران الخطايا لآخرين أكون أنا غير ممتحن.

Yes, O Lord, do not turn me away when I am humbled in shame, but send upon me the grace of Thine Holy Spirit. And make me worthy to stand before Thine Holy Altar without falling into condemnation.

Ⲁϩⲁ Ⲡ̀ⲟ̅ⲥ̅ ⲙ̀ⲡⲉⲣⲧⲁⲥⲑⲟⲓ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ ⲉⲓⲑⲉⲃⲓⲏⲟⲩⲧ ⲉ̀ⲁⲓϭⲓϣⲓⲡⲓ: ⲁⲗⲗⲁⲟⲩⲱⲣⲡ ⲉ̀ϧ̀ⲣⲏⲓ: ⲉ̀ϫⲱⲓ: ⲙ̀ⲡⲓϩ̀ⲙⲟⲧ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ Ⲡⲉⲕⲡ̀ⲛⲉⲩⲙⲁ ⲉ̀ⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ: ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁ̀ⲣⲓⲧⲧ ⲛ̀ⲉⲙⲡ̀ϣⲁ ⲉⲑⲣⲓⲟ̀ϩⲓ ⲉ̀ⲣⲁⲧ ⲉ̀ⲡⲉⲕⲑⲩⲥⲓⲁⲥⲧⲏⲣⲓⲟⲛ ⲉ̀ⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ: ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲉⲧⲁⲧϩⲓⲧⲧ ⲉ̀ⲡ̀ϩⲁⲡ.

نعم يا رب لا تردنى ذليلاً مخزياً. بل أرسل علىّ نعمة روحك القدوس. وإجعلنى مستحقاً أن أقف على مذبحك المقدس بغير وقوع فى دينونة.

And so that I might offer to Thee this rational and bloodless sacrifice, with a pure conscience.

Ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛ̀ⲧⲁⲓ̀ⲛⲓ ⲛⲁⲕ ⲉ̀ϧⲟⲩⲛ ⲙ̀ⲡⲁⲓϣⲟⲩϣⲱⲟⲩϣⲓ ⲛ̀ⲗⲟⲅⲓⲕⲟⲛ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛ̀ⲁⲧⲥ̀ⲛⲟϥ: ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲥⲩⲛⲓⲇⲏⲥⲓⲥ ⲉⲥⲧⲟⲩⲃⲏⲟⲩⲧ.

وأقرب لك هذه الذبيحة الناطقة غير الدموية بسريرة نقية.

As a pardon of my sins and my transgressions and as a forgiveness for the ignorances of Thy people.

Ⲉⲟⲩⲥⲩⲛⲭⲱⲣⲏⲥⲓⲥ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ⲛⲁⲛⲟⲃⲓ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲁⲡⲁⲣⲁⲡ̀ⲧⲱⲙⲁ: ⲉ̀ⲟⲩⲭⲱ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ⲡⲉⲕⲗⲁⲟⲥ ⲛ̀ⲛⲉϥⲙⲉⲧⲁⲧⲉ̀ⲙⲓ.

صفحاً لخطاياى وسيئاتى. وغفراناً لجهالات شعبك.

As a repose and a respite for our fathers and our brethren who preceded us and have fallen asleep in the Orthodox faith. As an edification for all Thy people.

Ⲉⲟⲩⲁ̀ⲛⲁⲡⲁⲩⲥⲓⲥ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩⲭ̀ⲃⲟⲃ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ⲛⲉⲛⲓⲟϯ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲉⲛⲥ̀ⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⲉ̀ⲧⲁⲩⲉⲣϣⲟⲣⲡ ⲛ̀ⲉⲛⲕⲟⲧ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲛⲁϩϯ ⲛ̀ⲟⲣⲑⲟⲇⲟⲝⲟⲥ: ⲉ̀ⲟⲩⲕⲱⲧ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ⲡⲉⲕⲗⲁⲟⲥ ⲧⲏⲣϥ.

ونياحاً وراحة لآبائنا واخوتنا الذين سبقوا فرقدوا فى الإيمان الأرثوذكسى. وبنيانا لشعبك أجمع.

And as a glory to Thee and Thy Only-Begotten Son and the Holy Spirit the Life-Giver who is of one essence with Thee.

Ⲉⲟⲩⲱ̀ⲟⲩ ⲛⲁⲕ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲡⲉⲕⲙⲟⲛⲟⲅⲉⲛⲏⲥ ⲛ̀Ϣⲏⲣⲓ: ⲛⲉⲙ Ⲡⲓⲡ̀ⲛⲉⲩⲙⲁ ⲉ̀ⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ ⲛ̀ⲣⲉϥⲧⲁⲛϧⲟ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛ̀ⲟ̀ⲙⲟⲩⲥⲓⲟⲥ ⲛⲉⲙⲁⲕ.

ومجداً لك زلإبنك الوحيد والروح القدس المحيى المساوى لك.

Now, and at all times, and unto the ages of all ages. Amen.
