Prayer of the Descent of the Holy Spirit

Deacon

Worship God in fear and trembling.

Ⲟⲩⲱϣⲧ ⲙ̀Ⲫϯ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩϩⲟϯ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩⲥ̀ⲑⲉⲣⲧⲉⲣ.

اسجدوا لله بخوف ورعدة.

The congregation bows down and says

We praise Thee, we bless Thee, we serve Thee and we worship Thee.

Ⲧⲉⲛϩⲱⲥ ⲉ̀ⲣⲟⲕ ⲧⲉⲛⲥ̀ⲙⲟⲩ ⲉ̀ⲣⲟⲕ ⲧⲉⲛϣⲉⲙϣⲓ ⲙ̀ⲙⲟⲕ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩⲱϣⲧ ⲙ̀ⲙⲟⲕ.

نسبحك نباركك نخدمك ونسجد لك.

The priest says the Prayer of the Descent of the Holy Spirit inaudibly

And we ask Thee, O Lord, our God, we, Thy sinful and unworthy servants.

Ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲧⲉⲛϯϩⲟ ⲉ̀ⲣⲟⲕ Ⲡ̀ⲟ̅ⲥ̅ Ⲡⲉⲛⲛⲟⲩϯ: ⲁ̀ⲛⲟⲛ ϧⲁ ⲛⲓⲣⲉϥⲉⲣⲛⲟⲃⲓ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛ̀ⲁⲧⲉⲙⲡ̀ϣⲁ ⲛ̀ⲉ̀ⲃⲓⲁⲓⲕ ⲛ̀ⲧⲁⲕ.

نسألك أيها الرب إلهنا نحن عبيدك الخطاة غير المستحقين.

We worship Thee by the pleasure of Thy goodness.

Ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩⲱϣⲧ ⲙ̀ⲙⲟⲕ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⲡ̀ϯⲙⲁϯ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ⲧⲉⲕⲙⲉⲧⲁ̀ⲅⲁⲑⲟⲥ.

نسجد لك بمسرة صلاحك.

That Thine Holy Spirit descend.

Ⲉⲑⲣⲉ Ⲡⲉⲕⲡ̀ⲛⲉⲩⲙⲁ ⲉ̀ⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ ⲓ̀ ⲉ̀ϧ̀ⲣⲏⲓ.

وليحل روحك القدوس.

The priest points to himself, then towards the bread and says

Upon us and upon these gifts set forth, and purify them, change them and manifest them as a sanctification of Thy saints.

Ⲉϫⲱⲛ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲉ̀ϫⲉⲛ ⲛⲁⲓⲇⲱⲣⲟⲛ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲭⲏ ⲉ̀ϧ̀ⲣⲏⲓ: ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉϥⲧⲟⲩⲃⲱⲟⲩ: ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉϥⲟⲩⲟⲑⲃⲟⲩ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉϥⲟⲩⲟⲛϩⲟⲩ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ ⲉⲩⲟⲩⲁⲃ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ⲛⲏⲉ̀ⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ ⲛ̀ⲧⲁⲕ.

علينا وعلى هذه القرابين الموضوعة ويطهرها وينقلها ويظهرها قدساً لقديسيك.

Ⲡⲣⲟⲥⲭⲱⲙⲉⲛ: ⲁ̀ⲙⲏⲛ.

ننصت. آمين.

The congregation stands up. The priest signs the bread three times while its on the paten and says

And this bread he makes into his Holy Body.

Ⲟⲩⲟ ⲡⲁⲓⲱⲓⲕ ⲙⲉⲛ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉϥⲁⲓϥ ⲛ̀ⲥⲱⲙⲁ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲁⲃ ⲛ̀ⲧⲁϥ.

وهذا الخبز يجعله جسداً مقدساً له.

The congregation bows down and says

I believe.

Ϯⲛⲁϩϯ.

اؤمن.

The priest says inaudibly

Our Lord, God and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Ⲡⲉⲛⲟ̅ⲥ̅ ⲟⲩⲟϩ Ⲡⲉⲛⲛⲟⲩϯ ⲟⲩⲟϩ Ⲡⲉⲛⲥⲱⲧⲏⲣ Ⲓⲏⲥⲟⲩⲥ Ⲡⲓⲭ̀ⲣⲓⲥⲧⲟⲥ.

ربنا وإلهنا ومخلصنا يسوع المسيح.

Given for the remission of sins and eternal life to those who shall partake of him.

Ⲉⲩϯ ⲙ̀ⲙⲟϥ ⲉ̀ⲡ̀ⲭⲱ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ⲛⲓⲛⲟⲃⲓ: ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩⲱⲛϧ ⲛ̀ⲉ̀ⲛⲉϩ ⲛ̀ⲛⲏⲉⲑⲛⲁϭⲓ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ ⲛ̀ϧⲏⲧϥ.

يعطى لغفران الخطايا وحياة أبدية لمن يتناول منه.

Ⲁ̀ⲙⲏⲛ.

حقاً.

The priest signs the chalice three times and says

And this cup also, into the precious Blood of his new covenant.

Ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲡⲁⲓⲁ̀ⲫⲟⲧ ⲇⲉ ⲟⲛ ⲛ̀ⲥ̀ⲛⲟϥ ⲉⲧⲧⲁⲓⲏⲟⲩⲧ: ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ϯⲇⲓⲁ̀ⲑⲏⲕⲏ ⲙ̀ⲃⲉⲣⲓ ⲛ̀ⲧⲁϥ.

وهذه الكأس أيضاً دماً كريماً للعهد الجديد الذى له.

The congregation bows down and says

Again, I believe.

Ⲕⲉ ⲡⲁⲗⲓⲛ ϯⲛⲁϩϯ.

وأيضاً اؤمن.

The priest says inaudibly

Our Lord, God and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Ⲡⲉⲛⲟ̅ⲥ̅ ⲟⲩⲟϩ Ⲡⲉⲛⲛⲟⲩϯ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲡⲉⲛⲥⲱⲧⲏⲣ Ⲓⲏⲥⲟⲩⲥ Ⲡⲓⲭ̀ⲣⲓⲥⲧⲟⲥ.

ربنا وإلهنا ومخلصنا يسوع المسيح.

Now the bread and the grape wine are transformed to the body and the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. Then the congregation stands up and says

Amen. Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy.

Ⲁ̀ⲙⲏⲛ: Ⲕⲩⲣⲓⲉ̀ ⲉ̀ⲗⲉⲏ̀ⲥⲟⲛ: Ⲕⲩⲣⲓⲉ̀ ⲉ̀ⲗⲉⲏ̀ⲥⲟⲛ: Ⲕⲩⲣⲓⲉ̀ ⲉ̀ⲗⲉⲏ̀ⲥⲟⲛ.

آمين. يارب ارحم. يارب ارحم. يارب ارحم.
