Prayer of the Veil to the Son

The priest may choose to say the following Prayer for the Veil instead. The priest says inaudibly

Yet again we ourselves return to Thee, O good God, by approaching Thine Holy Altar, and we beseech Thee, O Eternal Logos.

Ⲉⲧⲓ ⲟⲛ ⲧⲉⲛⲧⲁⲥⲑⲟ ⲙ̀ⲙⲟⲛ ϩⲁⲣⲟⲕ Ⲫϯ ⲡⲓⲁ̀ⲅⲁⲑⲟⲥ: ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⲡⲉⲛϫⲓⲛϧⲱⲛⲧ ⲉ̀ⲡⲉⲕⲙⲁⲛⲉⲣϣⲱⲟⲩϣⲓ ⲉ̀ⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ: ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲧⲉⲛϯϩⲟ ⲉ̀ⲣⲟⲕ Ⲡⲓⲗⲟⲅⲟⲥ ⲛ̀ⲁⲓⲇⲓⲟⲥ.

وأيضاً نرجع إليك يا الله الصالح باقترابنا إلى مذبحك المقدس. ونسألك أيها الكلمة الذاتى.

Purify us at this time that we might come to Thee.

Ⲙⲁⲧⲟⲩⲃⲟⲛ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲁⲓⲛⲁⲩ ⲫⲁⲓ ⲉ̀ⲧⲉⲛⲛⲏⲟⲩ ϩⲁⲣⲟⲕ ⲙ̀ⲙⲟϥ.

طهرنا فى هذا الوقت الذى نأتىإليك فيه.

Thou art the One who, without alteration, came to us in His flesh. And Thou hast filled everything with Thine unconfinable divinity.

Ⲛ̀ⲑⲟⲕ ϧⲁ ⲫⲏⲉ̀ⲧⲁϥⲓ̀ ϣⲁⲣⲟⲛ ϧⲉⲛ ⲧⲉϥⲥⲁⲣⲝ ⲛ̀ⲁⲧϣⲓⲃϯ: ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁⲕⲙⲟϩ ⲙ̀ⲡ̀ⲧⲏⲣϥ ϧⲉⲛ ⲧⲉⲕⲙⲉⲑⲛⲟⲩϯ ⲛ̀ⲁⲧϣⲟⲣϥⲥ ⲉ̀ϧⲟⲩⲛ.

أنت الذى أتى إلينا بجسده بغير تغيير وملأت الكل بلاهوتك غير المحصور.

May the bitterness of envy which is full of blemish, and the stench of detestable slander, be far from us.

Ⲙⲁⲣⲉϥⲟⲩⲉⲓ ⲥⲁⲃⲟⲗ ⲙ̀ⲙⲟⲛ ⲛ̀ϫⲉ ⲡⲓⲉⲛϣⲁϣⲓ ⲉⲑⲙⲉϩ ⲛ̀ⲁϭⲛⲓ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ⲡⲓⲫ̀ⲑⲟⲛⲟⲥ: ⲛⲉⲙ ⲡⲓⲥ̀ⲑⲟⲓⲃⲱⲛ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ϯⲕⲁⲧⲁⲗⲁⲗⲓⲁ̀ ⲉⲧⲱ̀ⲣⲉⲃ.

فلتبعد عنا مرارة الحسد المملوء عيباً. ونتن النميمة المرزولة.

Cleanse our hearts from every defilement, and our souls from every evil and our bodies from every uncleanness.

Ⲙⲁⲧⲟⲩⲃⲟ ⲛ̀ⲛⲉⲛϩⲏⲧ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗϩⲁ ⲑⲱⲗⲉⲃ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ: ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲉⲛⲯⲩⲭⲏ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗϩⲁ ⲕⲁⲕⲓⲁ̀ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ: ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲉⲛⲥⲱⲙⲁ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗϩⲁ ϭⲱϧⲉⲙ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ.

وطهر قلوبنا من كل دنس. وأنفسنا من كل شر. وأجسادنا من كل نجس.

And send to us the precious gift of Thine Holy Spirit, so that we might come near Thine Holy Altar.

Ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲟⲩⲱⲣⲡ ⲛⲁⲛ ⲉ̀ϧ̀ⲣⲏⲓ ⲛ̀ϯⲭⲟⲣⲏⲅⲓⲁ̀ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ Ⲡⲉⲕⲡ̀ⲛⲉⲩⲙⲁ ⲉ̀ⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ: ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉⲛⲓ̀ ⲉ̀ϫⲉⲛ ⲡⲉⲕⲑⲩⲥⲓⲁⲥⲧⲏⲣⲓⲟⲛ ⲉ̀ⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ.

وأرسل لنا عطية روحك القدوس. لكى نأتى على مذبحك المقدس.

That we may accomplish this service before Thee according to Thy will.

Ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉⲛϫⲱⲕ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ ⲙ̀ⲡⲁⲓϣⲉⲙϣⲓ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲡⲉⲑⲣⲁⲛⲁⲕ ⲙ̀ⲡⲉⲕⲙ̀ⲑⲟ.

ونكمل هذه الخدمة كما يرضيك أمامك.

And may our sacrifice be acceptable before Thee, for the forgiveness of our sins, and as a glory of Thine Holy Name.

Ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲙⲁⲣⲉⲥϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲉⲥϣⲏⲡ ⲛⲁϩⲣⲁⲕ ⲛ̀ϫⲉ ⲧⲉⲛⲑⲩⲥⲓⲁ̀: ⲉ̀ⲡ̀ⲭⲱ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ⲛⲉⲛⲛⲟⲃⲓ: ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩⲱ̀ⲟⲩ ⲙ̀ⲡⲉⲕⲣⲁⲛ ⲉ̀ⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ.

فلتكن ذبيحتنا مقبولة أمامك لغفران خطايانا. ومجداً لإسمك القدوس.

For Thou art generous toward everyone who asks of Thee.

Ϫⲉ ⲛ̀ⲑⲟⲕ ⲟⲩⲭ̀ⲣⲏⲥⲧⲟⲥ ⲉ̀ϫⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲉⲧⲧⲱⲃϩ ⲙ̀ⲙⲟⲕ.

لأنك صالح لكل الذين يدعونك.

And Thou art the One to whom is due the Kingdom, the authority and the worship, with Thy Good Father and the Holy Spirit.

Ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛ̀ⲑⲟⲕ ⲡⲉⲧⲉⲥⲉⲣⲡ̀ⲣⲉⲡⲓ ⲛⲁⲕ ⲛ̀ϫⲉ ϯⲙⲉⲧⲟⲩⲣⲟ ⲛⲉⲙ ϯⲉ̀ⲝⲟⲩⲥⲓⲁ̀ ⲛⲉⲙ ϯⲡ̀ⲣⲟⲥⲕⲩⲛⲏⲥⲓⲥ: ⲛⲉⲙ Ⲡⲉⲕⲓⲱⲧ ⲛ̀ⲁ̀ⲅⲁⲑⲟⲥ: ⲛⲉⲙ Ⲡⲓⲡ̀ⲛⲉⲩⲙⲁ ⲉ̀ⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ.

وأنت الذى ينبغى لك الملك والسلطان والسجود مع أبيك الصالح والروح القدس.

Now, and at all times, and unto the ages of all ages. Amen.

Ϯⲛⲟⲩ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛ̀ⲥⲏⲟⲩ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲛⲉⲙ ϣⲁ ⲉ̀ⲛⲉϩ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ⲛⲓⲉ̀ⲛⲉϩ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ: ⲁ̀ⲙⲏⲛ.

الآن وكل أوان وإلى دهر الدهور. آمين.

Then the priest says the three long prayers of the Peace, Fathers and Congregation as shown in the Liturgy of Saint Basil. Then the congregation says the Orthodox Creed.
