11:53-12:3

١١ : ٥٣ − ١٢ : ٣

*And as he was saying these things to them, the Pharisees and the lawyers began violently to urge him, and to oppress his mouth about many things, Lying in wait for him, and seeking to catch something from his mouth, that they might accuse him. Christ warns us against hypocrisy, the fear of the world and covetousness. He admonishes all to watch. And when great multitudes stood about him, so that they trod one upon another, he began to say to his disciples: Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed: nor hidden, that shall not be known. For whatsoever things you have spoken in darkness, shall be published in the light: and that which you have spoken in the ear in the chambers, shall be preached on the housetops. Glory be to God forever.

وَفِيمَا هُوَ يَقُولُ هذَا، ابْتَدَأَ الْكَتَبَةُ وَالْفَرِّيسِيُّونَ يَنْظُرُونَ رَدِيَّاً، وَيُكَلِّمُونَهُ في أُمُورٍ كَثِيرَةٍ، وَيَمْكُرُونَ لِيَصْطَادُوهُ بِكَلِمَةٍ مِنْ فَمِهِ. وَفي أثْنَاءِ ذلِكَ إذِ اجْتَمَعَ رَبَوَاتٌ كَثِيرَةٌ، حَتَّى دَاسَ بَعْضُهُمْ بَعْضَاً، ابْتَدَأَ يَسُوعُ يَقُولُ لِتَلامِيذِهِ: «أَوَّلاً تَحَرَّزُوا لأَنْفُسِكُمْ مِنْ خَمِيرِ الْفَرِّيسِيِّينَ الَّذِي هُوَ رِيَاؤهُمْ، فَلَيْسَ شَيْءٌ مَكْتُومٌ إلاَّ وَسَيُظْهَرُ، وَلا خَفِيٌّ إلاَّ وَسَيُعْلَمُ. وَالَّذِي تَقُولُونَهُ في الظُّلْمَةِ سَيُسْمَعُ في النُّورِ، وَمَا قُلْتُمُوهُ في الأُذنِ في الْمَخَادِعِ يُنَادَى بِهِ عَلَى السُّطُوحِ. وَالْمَجْدُ لِلَّهِ دَائِماً.

*In that same hour, he rejoiced in the Holy Ghost, and said: I confess to thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hidden these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them to little ones. Yea, Father, for so it hath seemed good in thy sight. All things are delivered to me by my Father; and no one knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and to whom the Son will reveal him. And turning to his disciples, he said: Blessed are the eyes that see the things which you see. For I say to you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see the things that you see, and have not seen them; and to hear the things that you hear, and have not heard them. Glory be to God forever.

وَفي تِلْكَ السَّاعَةِ تَهَلَّلَ يَسُوعُ بِالرُّوحِ الْقُدُسِ وَقَالَ: "أَشْكُرُكَ أيهَا الآبُ، رَبُّ السَّمَاءِ وَالأَرْضِ؛ لأنكَ أَخْفَيْتَ هذِهِ عَنِ الْحُكَمَاءِ وَالْفُهَمَاءِ وَأَعْلَنْتَهَا لِلأَطْفَالِ الصِّغَارِ. نَعَمْ أيهَا الآبُ، لأنْ هكَذَا صَارَتِ الْمَسَرَّةُ أَمَامَكَ. كُلُّ شَيْءٍ قَدْ دُفِعَ إليَّ مِنْ أبِي. وَلَيْسَ أَحَدٌ يَعْرِفُ مَنْ هُوَ الابْنُ إلاَّ الآبُ، وَمَنْ هُوَ الآبُ إلاَّ الابْنُ، وَمَنْ يُرِيدُ الابْنُ أنْ يُعْلِنَ لَهُ". ثُمَّ عَادَ إلى تَلاَمِيذِهِ عَلَى انْفَرَادٍ وَحْدَهُمْ وَقَالَ لَهُمْ: "طُوبَى لِلْعُيُونِ التي تَنْظُرُ مَا تَنْظُرُونَهُ! لأني أَقُولُ لَكُمْ: إنَّ أنْبِيَاءَ كَثِيرِينَ وَمُلُوكَاً أَرَادُوا أنْ يَنْظُرُوا مَا أَنْتُمْ تَنْظُرُونَ ولَمْ يَنْظُرُوا، وَأنْ يَسْمَعُوا مَا أَنْتُمْ تَسْمَعُونَ ولَمْ يَسْمَعُوا". وَالْمَجْدُ لِلَّهِ دَائِماً.

*Wherefore he saith: Ascending on high, he led captivity captive; he gave gifts to men. Now that he ascended, what is it, but because he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended above all the heavens, that he might fill all things. And he gave some apostles, and some prophets, and other some evangelists, and other some pastors and doctors, For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Until we all meet into the unity of faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the age of the fulness of Christ; That henceforth we be no more children tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine by the wickedness of men, by cunning craftiness, by which they lie in wait to deceive. But doing the truth in charity, we may in all things grow up in him who is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body, being compacted and fitly joined together, by what every joint supplieth, according to the operation in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body, unto the edifying of itself in charity. The grace of God the Father be with you all. Amen.

لِذلِكَ يَقُولُ:«إِذْ صَعِدَ إِلَى الْعَلاَءِ سَبَى سَبْيًا وَأَعْطَى النَّاسَ عَطَايَا». وَأَمَّا أَنَّهُ «صَعِدَ»، فَمَا هُوَ إِلاَّ إِنَّهُ نَزَلَ أَيْضًا أَوَّلاً إِلَى أَقْسَامِ الأَرْضِ السُّفْلَى. اَلَّذِي نَزَلَ هُوَ الَّذِي صَعِدَ أَيْضًا فَوْقَ جَمِيعِ السَّمَاوَاتِ، لِكَيْ يَمْلأَ الْكُلَّ. وَهُوَ أَعْطَى الْبَعْضَ أَنْ يَكُونُوا رُسُلاً، وَالْبَعْضَ أَنْبِيَاءَ، وَالْبَعْضَ مُبَشِّرِينَ، وَالْبَعْضَ رُعَاةً وَمُعَلِّمِينَ، لأَجْلِ تَكْمِيلِ الْقِدِّيسِينَ لِعَمَلِ الْخِدْمَةِ، لِبُنْيَانِ جَسَدِ الْمَسِيحِ، إِلَى أَنْ نَنْتَهِيَ جَمِيعُنَا إِلَى وَحْدَانِيَّةِ الإِيمَانِ وَمَعْرِفَةِ ابْنِ اللهِ. إِلَى إِنْسَانٍ كَامِل. إِلَى قِيَاسِ قَامَةِ مِلْءِ الْمَسِيحِ. كَيْ لاَ نَكُونَ فِي مَا بَعْدُ أَطْفَالاً مُضْطَرِبِينَ وَمَحْمُولِينَ بِكُلِّ رِيحِ تَعْلِيمٍ، بِحِيلَةِ النَّاسِ، بِمَكْرٍ إِلَى مَكِيدَةِ الضَّلاَلِ. بَلْ صَادِقِينَ فِي الْمَحَبَّةِ، نَنْمُو فِي كُلِّ شَيْءٍ إِلَى ذَاكَ الَّذِي هُوَ الرَّأْسُ: الْمَسِيحُ، الَّذِي مِنْهُ كُلُّ الْجَسَدِ مُرَكَّبًا مَعًا، وَمُقْتَرِنًا بِمُؤَازَرَةِ كُلِّ مَفْصِل، حَسَبَ عَمَل، عَلَى قِيَاسِ كُلِّ جُزْءٍ، يُحَصِّلُ نُمُوَّ الْجَسَدِ لِبُنْيَانِهِ فِي الْمَحَبَّةِ. نعمةُ اللَّهِ الآبِ فَلْتَحِلَّ عَلَى أرواحِنا يا آبائي وإخْوَتي. آمين.

*In like manner, ye young men, be subject to the ancients. And do you all insinuate humility one to another, for God resisteth the proud, but to the humble he giveth grace. Be you humbled therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in the time of visitation: Casting all your care upon him, for he hath care of you. Be sober and watch: because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, goeth about seeking whom he may devour. Whom resist ye, strong in faith: knowing that the same affliction befalls your brethren who are in the world. But the God of all grace, who hath called us into his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little, will himself perfect you, and confirm you, and establish you. To him be glory and empire for ever and ever. Amen. By Sylvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I think, I have written briefly: beseeching and testifying that this is the true grace of God, wherein you stand. Do not love the world or the things in the world. The world passes away, and its desires; but he who does the will of God abides forever. Amen.

كَذلِكَ أَيُّهَا الأَحْدَاثُ، اخْضَعُوا لِلشُّيُوخِ، وَكُونُوا جَمِيعًا خَاضِعِينَ بَعْضُكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ، وَتَسَرْبَلُوا بِالتَّوَاضُعِ، لأَنَّ:«اللهَ يُقَاوِمُ الْمُسْتَكْبِرِينَ، وَأَمَّا الْمُتَوَاضِعُونَ فَيُعْطِيهِمْ نِعْمَةً». فَتَوَاضَعُوا تَحْتَ يَدِ اللهِ الْقَوِيَّةِ لِكَيْ يَرْفَعَكُمْ فِي حِينِهِ، مُلْقِينَ كُلَّ هَمِّكُمْ عَلَيْهِ، لأَنَّهُ هُوَ يَعْتَنِي بِكُمْ. اُصْحُوا وَاسْهَرُوا. لأَنَّ إِبْلِيسَ خَصْمَكُمْ كَأَسَدٍ زَائِرٍ، يَجُولُ مُلْتَمِسًا مَنْ يَبْتَلِعُهُ هُوَ. فَقَاوِمُوهُ، رَاسِخِينَ فِي الإِيمَانِ، عَالِمِينَ أَنَّ نَفْسَ هذِهِ الآلاَمِ تُجْرَى عَلَى إِخْوَتِكُمُ الَّذِينَ فِي الْعَالَمِ. وَإِلهُ كُلِّ نِعْمَةٍ الَّذِي دَعَانَا إِلَى مَجْدِهِ الأَبَدِيِّ فِي الْمَسِيحِ يَسُوعَ، بَعْدَمَا تَأَلَّمْتُمْ يَسِيرًا، هُوَ يُكَمِّلُكُمْ، وَيُثَبِّتُكُمْ، وَيُقَوِّيكُمْ، وَيُمَكِّنُكُمْ. لَهُ الْمَجْدُ وَالسُّلْطَانُ إِلَى أَبَدِ الآبِدِينَ. آمِينَ. بِيَدِ سِلْوَانُسَ الأَخِ الأَمِينِ،­كَمَا أَظُنُّ­ كَتَبْتُ إِلَيْكُمْ بِكَلِمَاتٍ قَلِيلَةٍ وَاعِظًا وَشَاهِدًا، أَنَّ هذِهِ هِيَ نِعْمَةُ اللهِ الْحَقِيقِيَّةُ الَّتِي فِيهَا تَقُومُونَ. لا تُحِبُّوا العَالَمَ ولا الأشْيَاءَ التي في العَالَمِ، لأنَّ العَالَمَ يمْضِي وَشَهْوَتُهُ مَعَهُ، وأمَّا مَنْ يَعملُ مَشِيئَةَ اللهِ فإنه يَثْبُتُ إلى الأبدِ. آمين.

*Then Paul answered, (the governor making a sign to him to speak:) Knowing that for many years thou hast been judge over this nation, I will with good courage answer for myself. For thou mayest understand, that there are yet but twelve days, since I went up to adore in Jerusalem: And neither in the temple did they find me disputing with any man, or causing any concourse of the people, neither in the synagogues, nor in the city: Neither can they prove unto thee the things whereof they now accuse me. But this I confess to thee, that according to the way, which they call a heresy, so do I serve the Father and my God, believing all things which are written in the law and the prophets: Having hope in God, which these also themselves look for, that there shall be a resurrection of the just and unjust. And herein do I endeavour to have always a conscience without offence toward God, and towards men. Now after many years, I came to bring alms to my nation, and offerings, and vows. In which I was found purified in the temple: neither with multitude, nor with tumult. But certain Jews of Asia, who ought to be present before thee, and to accuse, if they had any thing against me: Or let these men themselves say, if they found in me any iniquity, when standing before the council, Except it be for this one voice only that I cried, standing among them, Concerning the resurrection of the dead am I judged this day by you. The word of the Lord shall grow, multiply, be mighty, and be confirmed, in the holy Church of God. Amen.

فَأَجَابَ بُولُسُ، إِذْ أَوْمَأَ إِلَيْهِ الْوَالِي أَنْ يَتَكَلَّمَ:«إِنِّي إِذْ قَدْ عَلِمْتُ أَنَّكَ مُنْذُ سِنِينَ كَثِيرَةٍ قَاضٍ لِهذِهِ الأُمَّةِ، أَحْتَجُّ عَمَّا فِي أَمْرِي بِأَكْثَرِ سُرُورٍ. وَأَنْتَ قَادِرٌ أَنْ تَعْرِفَ أَنَّهُ لَيْسَ لِي أَكْثَرُ مِنِ اثْنَيْ عَشَرَ يَوْمًا مُنْذُ صَعِدْتُ لأَسْجُدَ فِي أُورُشَلِيمَ. وَلَمْ يَجِدُونِي فِي الْهَيْكَلِ أُحَاجُّ أَحَدًا أَوْ أَصْنَعُ تَجَمُّعًا مِنَ الشَّعْبِ، وَلاَ فِي الْمَجَامِعِ وَلاَ فِي الْمَدِينَةِ. وَلاَ يَسْتَطِيعُونَ أَنْ يُثْبِتُوا مَا يَشْتَكُونَ بِهِ الآنَ عَلَيَّ. وَلكِنَّنِي أُقِرُّ لَكَ بِهذَا: أَنَّنِي حَسَبَ الطَّرِيقِ الَّذِي يَقُولُونَ لَهُ «شِيعَةٌ»، هكَذَا أَعْبُدُ إِلهَ آبَائِي، مُؤْمِنًا بِكُلِّ مَا هُوَ مَكْتُوبٌ فِي النَّامُوسِ وَالأَنْبِيَاءِ. وَلِي رَجَاءٌ بِاللهِ فِي مَا هُمْ أَيْضًا يَنْتَظِرُونَهُ: أَنَّهُ سَوْفَ تَكُونُ قِيَامَةٌ لِلأَمْوَاتِ، الأَبْرَارِ وَالأَثَمَةِ. لِذلِكَ أَنَا أَيْضًا أُدَرِّبُ نَفْسِي لِيَكُونَ لِي دَائِمًا ضَمِيرٌ بِلاَ عَثْرَةٍ مِنْ نَحْوِ اللهِ وَالنَّاسِ. وَبَعْدَ سِنِينَ كَثِيرَةٍ جِئْتُ أَصْنَعُ صَدَقَاتٍ لأُمَّتِي وَقَرَابِينَ. وَفِي ذلِكَ وَجَدَنِي مُتَطَهِّرًا فِي الْهَيْكَلِ، لَيْسَ مَعَ جَمْعٍ وَلاَ مَعَ شَغَبٍ، قَوْمٌ هُمْ يَهُودٌ مِنْ أَسِيَّا، كَانَ يَنْبَغِي أَنْ يَحْضُرُوا لَدَيْكَ وَيَشْتَكُوا، إِنْ كَانَ لَهُمْ عَلَيَّ شَيْءٌ. أَوْ لِيَقُلْ هؤُلاَءِ أَنْفُسُهُمْ مَاذَا وَجَدُوا فِيَّ مِنَ الذَّنْبِ وَأَنَا قَائِمٌ أَمَامَ الْمَجْمَعِ، إِلاَّ مِنْ جِهَةِ هذَا الْقَوْلِ الْوَاحِدِ الَّذِي صَرَخْتُ بِهِ وَاقِفًا بَيْنَهُمْ: أَنِّي مِنْ أَجْلِ قِيَامَةِ الأَمْوَاتِ أُحَاكَمُ مِنْكُمُ الْيَوْمَ». لَمْ تَزَلْ كَلِمَةُ الرَّبِّ تَنْمُو وتَكْثُرُ وتَعْتَزُّ وتَثْبُتُ، في بِيعَةِ اللَّهِ الْمُقَدَّسَةِ. آمين.

*All things whatsoever the Father hath, are mine. Therefore I said, that he shall receive of mine, and shew it to you. A little while, and now you shall not see me; and again a little while, and you shall see me: because I go to the Father. Then some of the disciples said one to another: What is this that he saith to us: A little while, and you shall not see me; and again a little while, and you shall see me, and, because I go to the Father? They said therefore: What is this that he saith, A little while? we know not what he speaketh. And Jesus knew that they had a mind to ask him; and he said to them: Of this do you inquire among yourselves, because I said: A little while, and you shall not see me; and again a little while, and you shall see me? Amen, amen I say to you, that you shall lament and weep, but the world shall rejoice; and you shall be made sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. A woman, when she is in labour, hath sorrow, because her hour is come; but when she hath brought forth the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world. So also you now indeed have sorrow; but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice; and your joy no man shall take from you. And in that day you shall not ask me any thing. Amen, amen I say to you: if you ask the Father any thing in my name, he will give it you. Glory be to God forever.

كُلُّ مَا لِلآبِ هُوَ لِي. لِهذَا قُلْتُ إِنَّهُ يَأْخُذُ مِمَّا لِي وَيُخْبِرُكُمْ. بَعْدَ قَلِيل لاَ تُبْصِرُونَنِي، ثُمَّ بَعْدَ قَلِيل أَيْضًا تَرَوْنَنِي، لأَنِّي ذَاهِبٌ إِلَى الآبِ». فَقَالَ قَوْمٌ مِنْ تَلاَمِيذِهِ، بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ:«مَا هُوَ هذَا الَّذِي يَقُولُهُ لَنَا: بَعْدَ قَلِيل لاَ تُبْصِرُونَنِي، ثُمَّ بَعْدَ قَلِيل أَيْضًا تَرَوْنَنِي، وَلأَنِّي ذَاهِبٌ إِلَى الآبِ؟». فَقَالُوا:«مَا هُوَ هذَا الْقَلِيلُ الَّذِي يَقُولُ عَنْهُ؟ لَسْنَا نَعْلَمُ بِمَاذَا يَتَكَلَّمُ!». فَعَلِمَ يَسُوعُ أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا يُرِيدُونَ أَنْ يَسْأَلُوهُ، فَقَالَ لَهُمْ: «أَعَنْ هذَا تَتَسَاءَلُونَ فِيمَا بَيْنَكُمْ، لأَنِّي قُلْتُ: بَعْدَ قَلِيل لاَ تُبْصِرُونَنِي، ثُمَّ بَعْدَ قَلِيل أَيْضًا تَرَوْنَنِي اَلْحَقَّ الْحَقَّ أَقُولُ لَكُمْ: إِنَّكُمْ سَتَبْكُونَ وَتَنُوحُونَ وَالْعَالَمُ يَفْرَحُ. أَنْتُمْ سَتَحْزَنُونَ، وَلكِنَّ حُزْنَكُمْ يَتَحَوَّلُ إِلَى فَرَحٍ. اَلْمَرْأَةُ وَهِيَ تَلِدُ تَحْزَنُ لأَنَّ سَاعَتَهَا قَدْ جَاءَتْ، وَلكِنْ مَتَى وَلَدَتِ الطِّفْلَ لاَ تَعُودُ تَذْكُرُ الشِّدَّةَ لِسَبَبِ الْفَرَحِ، لأَنَّهُ قَدْ وُلِدَ إِنْسَانٌ فِي الْعَالَمِ. فَأَنْتُمْ كَذلِكَ، عِنْدَكُمُ الآنَ حُزْنٌ. وَلكِنِّي سَأَرَاكُمْ أَيْضًا فَتَفْرَحُ قُلُوبُكُمْ، وَلاَ يَنْزِعُ أَحَدٌ فَرَحَكُمْ مِنْكُمْ وَفِي ذلِكَ الْيَوْمِ لاَ تَسْأَلُونَنِي شَيْئًا. اَلْحَقَّ الْحَقَّ أَقُولُ لَكُمْ: إِنَّ كُلَّ مَا طَلَبْتُمْ مِنَ الآبِ بِاسْمِي يُعْطِيكُمْ. وَالْمَجْدُ لِلَّهِ دَائِماً.
